Our Criminal Intelligence Analyst team provides intelligence tactical strategic administrative and operational crime analysis as part of the Intelligence Information Division (IID) within the Maricopa County Sheriffs Office (MCSO). This position provides support to numerous investigative and operational units by analyzing crime data and information for relevant patterns trends and evidence of criminal activity using various illustrative and statistical methods.

Position Qualifications
Education
- Bachelors degree with major course work in Social Sciences Criminal Justice Crime and Intelligence Analysis National Security Computer Science or a closely related field.
Experience
- One (1) years of experience in crime and/or intelligence analysis and criminal investigations compiling data analyzing and verifying findings and writing reports relevant to law enforcement or military.
- Specific crime/intelligence analysis training from an accredited organization or university may be substituted for up to one year of experience or education.
OR
Combined education and experience qualifications
- Other combinations of education or experience may substitute for the minimum qualifications on a year for year basis.
Other requirements
- Must possess a valid Arizona drivers license or have the ability to obtain by the time of hire.
- Training that may be provided on-the-job: FEMA NIMS IS100 and 700; Safety; Payroll; PREA.
- Prior to hiring the Sheriffs Office requires that all candidates pass a background review.
Our Preferred Candidate has
- Two (2) years of comprehensive experience in crime/intelligence analysis and criminal investigations compiling data analyzing and verifying findings and writing reports relevant to law enforcement.
- Two (2) years of experience in law enforcement or intelligence.
- Advanced proficiency in current computer software used for intelligence data collection analyzing processing and retention including SQL ESRI Arc GIS applications i2 Analysts Notebook Microsoft Access Microsoft Excel relational database design and Open-Source investigation techniques.
Essential Job Tasks
(This is not an all-inclusive list of all job duties that may be required; employees will be required to perform other related duties as assigned.)
- Analyzes evaluates and correlates criminal intelligence information from multiple sources to develop new investigative leads and links between individual criminals and criminal organizations; distinguishes patterns/trends.
- Manages criminal intelligence and investigative data from law enforcement investigative bodies; correlates incoming new data with existing data in law enforcement databases and Investigative Reports (IRs).
- Prepares and documents analytical findings in investigative reports.
- Uses investigative and analytical tools graphics and relevant software applications to produce reports presentations prosecutorial documents and special projects.
- Testifies in criminal prosecutions as required.
- Conducts technical analysis and prepares link analysis timeline charts and Call Detail Record (CDR) analysis using various intelligence/investigative software applications.
- Performs complex statistical and analytical research including random sampling and correlation and regression analysis; generates reports based on research and provides follow-up on the results.
- Gathers and analyzes crime data to determine crime trends suspect-crime correlations target suspect profiles and crime forecasting utilizing various software applications.
- Researches and evaluates criminal intelligence information to determine source reliability content validity and potential truthfulness using various resources (e.g. criminal intelligence databases criminal records witness reports evidence telephone calls interviews).
- Coordinates with case agents on criminal investigations and ongoing operations.
- Participates in multi-agency task force investigations work groups or committees to provide analytical assistance to meet the objectives of MCSO and other law enforcement agencies.
- Creates and prepares various documents in support of investigations and operations (e.g. investigative reports maps crime analysis products memos official letters bulletins); disseminates information to MCSO or other requesting law enforcement agencies.
- Acts as a liaison between MCSO and other prosecuting agencies to facilitate the exchange of information to benefit progress of ongoing criminal investigations.
- Completes other duties or projects as assigned by the supervisor.

- Analytical techniques used by the intelligence community in research and investigation and analytical practices in the acquisition verification and dissemination of investigative and crime analysis information.
- Federal and State laws policies and procedures governing the collection use security retention and dissemination of intelligence/investigative data.

- Comprehending and interpreting complex technical and analytical information and developing logical conclusions.
- Querying extracting and transforming large data sets for use in investigations and analytics using basic programming query languages and other advanced methods.
- Handling a wide range of investigative and analytical related tasks in a fluid law enforcement environment.
