Staff Accountant – Construction

Hi-Way Paving is a large-scale concrete paving contractor with an active presence at major commercial and regional airports across multiple markets. We execute high-visibility projects while continuing to expand into new regions as we grow.

This role offers broad exposure across the organization working with everyone from field teams and project managers to senior leadership. As part of a small collaborative accounting and finance team this position goes beyond traditional accounting responsibilitiesoffering the opportunity to contribute to process improvements provide meaningful analysis and influence real business decisions.

What Youll Do:

• Support general ledger accounting including journal entries and account reconciliations
• Assist with the month-end close and financial reporting across multiple entities and job sites
• Participate in job costing project setup and cost tracking/variance analysis
• Work with WIP (Work in Progress) schedules and project-based financial reporting
• Assist with accounts payable accounts receivable and expense allocations
• Support payroll processing and payroll reconciliations (experience is a plus)
• Partner with project managers and field teams to ensure accurate job cost data
• Contribute to process improvements as the company continues to grow

What We Look For:

• Bachelors degree in accounting
• 2 years of accounting experience (construction or project-based accounting preferred)
• Exposure to job costing WIP or percent-complete accounting is a plus
• Payroll experience or exposure is a plus
• Strong Excel skills; experience with ERP or construction accounting systems preferred
• Organized adaptable and comfortable managing priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to connect day-to-day work to the bigger picture
• Must be at least 18 years old to meet employment requirements

Hi-Way Paving Inc. is a general contractor in the heavy/civil construction space focusing on projects involving significant amounts of concrete paving on airfields.

We operate in several southeastern and midwestern states with current job sites in Tennessee North Carolina and South Carolina as well as corporate/back-office operations in Ohio (our headquarters) and at remote locations. We perform most of our work and services as a prime contractor but occasionally serve as a subcontractor on principal contracts with federal state and other governmental agencies as well as private owners.
