About You
5 years of experience in heavy-duty diesel engines/machinery. Experience maintaining a large (50 unit) diesel fleet is preferred but not required. This role is perfect for technicians who are equally comfortable diagnosing a Class A truck and troubleshooting hydraulic issues on a compact excavator.
Experience requirements:
- 5 years working with heavy-duty diesel engines and machinery for transportation vehicles (heavy duty trucks and trailers) and construction equipment
- Valid Drivers License
- Experience working with gas engines and machinery is a plus
About the Job
The Heavy Duty Diesel Mechanic is responsible for the upkeep of a diverse fleet ensuring equipment stays out of the shop and on the job site. They provide mechanical support and routine upkeep for Accu-Cretes fleet (including but not limited to: heavy duty diesel trucks/trailers bobcat loaders forklifts excavators etc). They are responsible for performing service maintenance repair and preventative work on company vehicles/equipment. We offer a competitive base salary and a generous benefits package. Responsibilities:
- Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance work (such as oil changes and fluid checks) on the following: diesel trucks/trailers Bobcat loaders forklifts and excavators
- System Diagnostics: use specialized software and manual diagnostic tools to identify mechanical electric and hydraulic failures
- Heavy Component Repairs: remove and replace engines transmissions differentials and hydraulic pumps
- Undercarriage & Brake Work: maintain and repair tracks rollers and drive motors on tracked equipment as well as air brake systems on heavy duty trucks/trailers
- Field Service: occasional travel to construction sites to perform emergency repairs in various weather conditions/landscapes
- Documentation: maintain accurate records of all repairs parts used and labor hours
Duties (including but not limited to):
Diesel Truck/Trailer Duties
- Determine vehicle condition by conducting inspections and diagnostic tests
- Service repair and maintenance of diesel trucks/trailers including but not limited to:
- Identifying any faults malfunctions or worn and damaged parts (including engine powertrain and air brake systems issues)
- Appropriate replacement of worn/damaged parts upon review
- Test repaired parts/systems to ensure proper installation and vehicle safety
- Clean lubricate and perform other relevant diesel vehicle maintenance work
- Installation of new equipment on an as-needed basis
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all truck/trailer repairs and any related documents (purchase orders receipts etc)
- Other relevant duties as needed
Heavy Equipment Duties
- Determine equipment condition by conducting appropriate inspections and diagnostic tests for: computer electrical mechanical and hydraulic failures
- Service repair and maintenance of heavy equipment including but not limited to:
- Identifying and replacing worn and damaged parts
- Adjusting and/or recalibrating equipment
- Clean lubricate and perform other equipment maintenance work
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all heavy equipment repairs and any related documents (purchase orders receipts etc).
- Other relevant duties as needed
Working Environment of the Job:
This work primarily takes place in a standard shop environment but there is the possibility of onsite visits to active construction sites out of state Accu-Crete Yards etc. Work is expected to take place in a variety of weather conditions and surface environments. Work may occasionally be performed under hazardous and adverse conditions including but not limited to: proximity to moving mechanical equipment active construction environments requiring hard hat protection high noise environments requiring hearing protection elevated heights and confined spaces.
Physical Requirements of the Job:
Physical requirements include: standing running walking sitting kneeling stooping/bending lifting squatting reaching pushing pulling crawling jumping sliding climbing pinching gripping digging spraying maintaining balance the ability to ascend and descend ladders and stairs the ability to complete repetitive motions regular exertion of up to 50 lbs. of force occasional heavy lifting (70 lb. / 32 kg) and superb manual dexterity for the use of tools and machinery as needed for job duties. This position demands frequent use of sensory activities such as talking seeing hearing smelling feeling (identifying objects by touch) depth perception and color vision. Ability to communicate orally in person and over devices with peers vendors contractors clients and construction workers is crucial. Regular use of mobile devices (talking or texting) and email for communication is essential and required for everyday tasks. Hearing and vision within normal ranges is essential for normal conversations to receive ordinary information and prepare inspect or review documents. A pre-employment drug test is required for all personnel.
