Job Summary

$15.95 - $23.58 Hourly


Open to the general public and any current Municipal employee.

These positions are represented by the Anchorage Municipal Employee Association (AMEA) and are subject to the provisions of the current agreement between the Municipality of Anchorage and the AMEA.

DEPARTMENT: Parks and Recreation
HOURS OF WORK: Hours vary; Monday through Sunday; between 7:00 a.m. and 11:00 p.m.
LOCATION(S): 9401 W. Raspberry Rd.

These are seasonal positions (working 38 hours per week) and will end approximately six (6) months after date of hire.

Employees who are initially hired for any Seasonal position shall be placed at Step 3 and advancement from the entrance step to the maximum step within a pay grade shall be by successive steps.



Remote work schedule opportunities (telecommuting) may be considered after successful completion of probation at the discretion of management and with the approval of the department head. Not all positions are eligible for remote work (telecommuting) per P&P 40-40.

Example of Duties

Under supervision provides leadership and functional supervision to recreation facility and program participants; organizes and cleans the facility in accordance with the facility operation manual; greets registers and admits participants into the facility. This is an entry level position that is distinguished from the higher classification level by its lack of managerial responsibilities. This position may be required to work outdoors in inclement weather and rugged terrain.


Additional Qualifications/Responsibilities
Minimum Qualifications / Substitutions / Preferences

High school diploma GED or equivalent and three (3) months experience leading directing supervising coaching or teaching children and/or adults at a recreation facility a childcare facility a childcare program camps educational institutions therapeutic recreational programs team organized youth programs or other similar programs.

All applicants must possess or obtain:

American Red Cross First Aid and American Red Cross Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certification or equivalent within 30 days of hire.

Satisfactory completion of a national criminal background investigation (AS 12.62.160 and AS 12.62.400).

- Valid State of Alaska Drivers License and satisfactory Driving Record at time of hire.
