Job Description:
We are looking for an experienced Dental Assistant to join our team in New York NY. The ideal candidate will assist the dentist during patient examinations and treatments ensuring efficient care and maintaining a sterile and organized environment. This role requires experience assisting in oral surgery procedures and the ability to work well in a fast-paced setting.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist the dentist during patient examinations and treatments including oral surgery procedures
Seat patients adjust dental chairs and prepare equipment for treatment
Lay out dental instruments and supplies ensuring everything is sterile and ready for use
Hand instruments to the dentist during procedures and retract the patients mouth as needed
Operate suction equipment to keep the patients mouth free of secretions during procedures
Administer mouthwash and assist with tooth extractions and other oral surgical interventions
Sterilize and clean dental instruments linens and treatment areas
Maintain accurate records of dental examinations treatments and appointments
Assist with taking and developing dental X-rays (if applicable)
Mix amalgam and other filling materials as requested by the dentist
Perform moderate physical activity including standing lifting bending and typing
Qualifications:
BLS certification (required)
Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Dental Assistant
Experience assisting in oral surgery is a must
High School Diploma (or GED)
Completion of an accredited Dental Assistant Program
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Ability to work in a fast-paced clinical environment
Skills & Requirements:
Strong knowledge of dental instruments procedures and patient care
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to perform moderate physical tasks (standing for extended periods lifting bending etc.)
Ability to maintain a sterile and organized work environment
