Position: Registered Nurse - Med/Surg Telemetry
Shift: Day 3x12-Hour (07:00 - 19:30)
Job Duration: 13 weeks
Location: Simpsonville SC
Job Description:
We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse with experience in Med/Surg Telemetry to join our team. This role requires the ability to handle a variety of patient diagnoses including orthopedics and bariatrics in a telemetry setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide high-quality patient care in the Med/Surg and Telemetry units including monitoring patient vital signs and ECG readings.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by the healthcare provider.
- Float to other Prisma Health units or campuses as needed to meet census requirements (only float to units qualified for).
- Collaborate with physicians nurse practitioners and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement patient care plans.
- Document patient care activities assessments and interventions accurately in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
- Provide education and support to patients and their families regarding treatment plans discharge instructions and general health management.
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies and procedures and provide safe compassionate care to all patients.
- Respond to changes in patient condition and escalate to the appropriate team members as necessary.
- Assist with patient admissions discharges and transfers.
Qualifications:
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of recent experience in Med/Surg Telemetry. First-time travelers will be considered with at least 3 years of experience in the specialty.
- Certifications:
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)
- Active South Carolina Registered Nurse (RN) license
- EPIC Experience: 1 year of experience with EPIC Electronic Medical Records is required.
- Required Skills:
- Strong knowledge of patient care in Med/Surg and Telemetry settings.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced high-acuity environment.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to educate patients and families.
- Strong clinical assessment skills and the ability to handle critical situations effectively.
