Responsibilities for Speech-Language Pathologist

• Prepare engaging exercises and activities to use during speech sessions with patients
• Provide counseling and consultations for new patients
• Work with SLP team and Registered Dieticians to determine safe diet
• Create goals and objectives for patients to work toward and identify areas of progress and challenges
• Prepare speech pathology equipment and exam room ensuring proper sterilization and safety procedures are followed
• Attend continuing education courses and work to advance personal knowledge and experience within the field
• Request and organize written authorization from patients involving specific follow up instructions and goals for improvement
• Treat residents according to a treatment plan approved by the attending physician
• Communicate with Supervisor and other health team members regarding resident progress problems and plans
• Record clinical documentation according to the accepted regulatory facility and professional guidelines; this includes daily notes weekly progress notes and monthly recertification documents

Speech-Language Pathologist Requirements

• NYS License
• A Masters degree in speech-language pathology

Preferred

• Proficiency in Optima HCS
