Job Summary

POSITION OBJECTIVE:


This position provides classroom laboratory and clinical instruction in the Health Science Careers program preparing students for Washington State Nursing Assistant Certification and entry-level healthcare employment. This role includes teaching supervising clinical experiences assessing student competencies and ensuring program implementation aligns with and abides by state industry and district standards

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: (These duties are a representative sample; position assignments may vary.)


Provides direct classroom laboratory and clinical instruction aligned with state and national standards for Nursing Assistant Certified (NAC) programs.
Maintains and manages the Health Science skills laboratory ensuring equipment readiness organization safety compliance and effective instructional use.
Coordinates and supervises student clinical placements in approved healthcare facilities. Including scheduling and monitoring student completion of required clinical hours necessary for Washington State certification.
Organizes and maintains student clinical eligibility requirements including vaccinations health clearances background checks documentation and maintenance of required records.
Establishes and maintains partnerships with school administrators local healthcare providers and industry partners to strengthen program quality and student opportunities.
Ensures program compliance with Washington State Department of Health regulations and Nursing Assistant Training Program requirements.
Maintains approval and certification with the Washington State Board of Health to administer Nursing Assistant skills testing.
Serves as an American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Instructor providing instruction and assessment leading to student certification.
Monitors and ensures adherence to safety and infection control protocols during all program activities.
May be expected to work additional time beyond normal contract hours and compensated per the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the Bellevue Education Association and Bellevue School District.
Participates in school and district CTE initiatives advisory committees and professional development.
Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:


Reports directly to the Director of Career and Technical Education (CTE).

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE (positions in this class typically require):


Required:
Holds an active registered nurse (RN) license in good standing in the state of Washington.
Meets the Washington State Department of Health qualifications as a Nursing Assistant Training Instructor.
Possesses or is eligible for CTE certification with V511614 (Nursing Assistant) and V600097 (Work Site Learning Coordinator)

Preferred:
Prior experience teaching or training nursing assistants or other healthcare professionals.
Experience supervising students in clinical or laboratory settings.
Allowable Substitutions:
Experience may be substituted depending upon other qualifications.

LICENSING REQUIREMENTS (positions in this class typically require):

Possess or qualify for immediate issuance of a CTE certification with V511614 and V600097
Holds an active registered nurse (RN) license in good standing in the state of Washington.

KNOWLEDGE (position requirements at entry):

Nursing assistant practice standards and scope as defined by the Washington State Department of Health and federal regulations.
Principles and best practices in nursing care particularly for long-term care and geriatric populations.
Effective teaching learning and assessment strategies including differentiation to meet diverse student needs.
Safety infection control and patient rights in healthcare settings.
Equity cultural competence and strategies to support underrepresented students in health science careers.
Use of technology and simulation in healthcare instruction.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Positions in this class typically require: stooping kneeling crouching reaching standing walking pushing pulling lifting finger dexterity grasping talking hearing seeing and repetitive motions.

Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently and/or negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for Sedentary Work and the worker sits most of the time.

Incumbents may be subjected to moving mechanical parts odors chemicals extreme temperatures inadequate lighting workspace restrictions and intense noises.


CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:


$73990 to $ 138754 annual salary prorated based on FTE (based on the negotiated collective bargaining agreement salary schedule). Certificated staff work the school year contract with placement on the District and BEA bargaining agreement salary schedule. Placement on the schedule is determined by training and experience.

Medical dental vision long-term disability and life-insurance eligibility is based upon .45 FTE. Retirement provided through Washington State Department of Retirement Systems.
