About the Opportunity

An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced and passionate Clinical Nurse Consultant Grade 2 to join the Hunter Valley Sector Specialist Palliative Care Service. Based at Cessnock House this role supports patients and families across Cessnock Kurri Kurri and Singleton.

You will be part of a dedicated multidisciplinary team delivering expert palliative care in a community setting supported by the newly established Hunter Specialist Palliative Care Hub and the Hunter Valley Community Health team.

This position is full time; however part time/job share arrangements may also be considered.


What You Will Be Doing

Reporting to the Nurse Unit Manager (NUM) Hunter Valley Community Health Nursing Team you will provide advanced clinical leadership and specialist palliative care expertise across the service.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading and supporting high-performing clinical teams and individuals

  • Providing expert clinical advice and guidance on complex palliative care matters

  • Delivering and coordinating high-quality patient-centred care

  • Supporting improved patient outcomes through evidence-based practice

  • Collaborating within a multidisciplinary team across the sector

  • Maintaining professional and ethical standards in complex care environments

This role also includes travel across the Hunter Valley with access to fleet vehicles provided.

About you

You are an experienced and confident clinician with a strong background in palliative care and a passion for leadership and service improvement.

Requirements:

  • Proven ability to lead and support clinical teams

  • Advanced clinical knowledge and decision-making skills

  • Ability to share expertise to enhance team performance and patient outcomes

  • Strong understanding of professional and ethical practice in complex situations

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills

  • A Registered Nurse with current Authority to Practice with AHPRA who has at least 5 years full time equivalent post registration experience with at least 3 years full time equivalent experience in this specialty addition the employee must have approved postgraduate nursing qualifications in Palliative Care and an eligibility to drive in NSW and the ability and willingness to drive for work purposes
