Position Overview
Navitas Healthcare LLC is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Certified Medical Coder to join our team. This role is responsible for reviewing clinical documentation and diagnostic results to accurately assign ICD-10-CM and CPT codes for billing reporting research and compliance purposes. The ideal candidate will have strong outpatient coding experience and a solid understanding of coding guidelines and regulatory standards.
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
High School Diploma or GED required
Associate Degree in a healthcare or medical-related field preferred
Certifications (one required):
Certified Coding Specialist (CCS)
Certified Professional Coder (CPC)
Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT)
Certified Medical Coder (CMC)
Certified Coding Associate (CCA)
Experience & Skills
Minimum 2 years of outpatient coding experience required
Experience with E/M coding required
Neurosurgery or Neurology coding experience preferred
At least 6 months of HCC coding experience preferred
Familiarity with EPIC systems preferred
Strong attention to detail and analytical skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Key Responsibilities
Assign accurate diagnosis and procedure codes using ICD-10-CM CPT and modifiers
Review clinical documentation to ensure coding accuracy and completeness
Ensure compliance with coding guidelines regulatory requirements and internal policies
Apply knowledge of APC reimbursement methodologies
Communicate effectively with providers and clinical staff to clarify documentation when needed
Maintain high standards aligned with ethical coding practices
Support departmental goals quality standards and productivity expectations
Participate in ongoing education and professional development
Serve as a mentor or resource for junior team members as needed
Perform additional duties as assigned
