Job Title: Certified Medical Coder
Location: Houston TX 77024
Assignment Duration: 13 Weeks
Schedule: Day Shift (08:00 AM 05:00 PM)
Pay Rate: $28 $30 per hour
Position Overview
Navitas Healthcare LLC is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Certified Medical Coder to join our team. This role is responsible for reviewing clinical documentation and diagnostic results to accurately assign ICD-10-CM and CPT codes for billing reporting research and compliance purposes. The ideal candidate will have strong outpatient coding experience and a solid understanding of coding guidelines and regulatory standards.
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Associate Degree in a healthcare or medical-related field preferred
Certifications (one required):
- Certified Coding Specialist (CCS)
- Certified Professional Coder (CPC)
- Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT)
- Certified Medical Coder (CMC)
- Certified Coding Associate (CCA)
Experience & Skills
- Minimum 2 years of outpatient coding experience required
- Experience with E/M coding required
- Neurosurgery or Neurology coding experience preferred
- At least 6 months of HCC coding experience preferred
- Familiarity with EPIC systems preferred
- Strong attention to detail and analytical skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Key Responsibilities
- Assign accurate diagnosis and procedure codes using ICD-10-CM CPT and modifiers
- Review clinical documentation to ensure coding accuracy and completeness
- Ensure compliance with coding guidelines regulatory requirements and internal policies
- Apply knowledge of APC reimbursement methodologies
- Communicate effectively with providers and clinical staff to clarify documentation when needed
- Maintain high standards aligned with ethical coding practices
- Support departmental goals quality standards and productivity expectations
- Participate in ongoing education and professional development
- Serve as a mentor or resource for junior team members as needed
- Perform additional duties as assigned
