Bachelors Degree Required. This position is temporary up to 1 year. Some Travel within the Roanoke VA area may be required.The Neurosurgery Intern supports departmental research operations within the department of Neurosurgery while gaining hands-on practical experience in the healthcare field. Interns work under the supervision of the departmental Research Director or designee and contribute to daily operations projects such as research or strategic initiatives as well as other duties as assigned.
- Work under the supervision of the Research Director or designee to complete assigned duties specifically in the realm of Neurosurgery Research.
- Observe document and communicate work progress findings or issues to the Research Director or designee .
- Interact and communicate effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization using appropriate communication methods.
- Conduct research activities that result in data collection entry and analysis for publications
- Interact with research participants to collect data in clinic operating theater and other environments
- Collect and process research specimens for storage shipping and/or analysis
- Assist in writing and presenting research findings in meetings conferences grants or publications
- Participate in staff meetings project meetings and interdisciplinary discussions as requested.
- Proactively seek out learning opportunities manage time effectively and appropriately prioritize assignments.
- Follow all organizational policies procedures ethical standards and confidentiality requirements.
What We Require:
Education: Bachelors Degree Required. Some internships may require a bachelors degree; or enrolled in and nearing completion of an undergraduate degree or terminal degree in a field relevant to the internship
Licensure certification and/or registration: Clinical interns may be required to be enrolled in an accredited professional program (e.g. pharmacy nursing allied health) and meet regulatory or licensure-related requirements.
Other Minimum Qualifications: Ability to work efficiently manage time wisely and follow policies and procedures with minimal supervision. Strong communication organizational and interpersonal skills. Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment. Demonstrated initiative professionalism and willingness to learn. Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately.
