Summary/Objective

Reporting to the Tax Director the Tax Manager I is responsible for serving as a leader in the tax department and ensuring accurate and timely processing of tax returns for the Firm by completing a final review of all returns a detail review of some returns managing workflow and assisting the Senior Tax Managers and/or Tax Manager II and planning teams as needed.

Essential Functions

  1. Manage the daily workflow of tasks for their assigned clients

  1. Complete final review of all tax returns and detail reviews of some tax returns prior to sending to planning team and/or client

  1. Oversee assigned Tax Admin Specialist for team

  1. Provide weekly updates to the Senior Manager and/or Tax Manager II regarding overall performance

Responsibilities and Duties

  1. Work closely with Senior Tax Managers and/or Tax Manager II to prepare for each tax season

  1. Work closely with Tax Seniors Tax Manager II and/or Senior Tax Managers to address questions/concerns from the planning teams

  1. Partner with Planners to ensure a seamless workflow between departments

  1. Create and present tax training materials alongside Tax Manager II Senior Tax Managers and Senior Tax Research Manager

  1. Work closely with Senior Tax Research Manager Tax Manager II and Senior Tax Managers to address research projects staff training materials & staff training events

  1. Mentor Tax Seniors on professional development within the tax department

  1. Act as an active participant in the recruiting process (review resumes and interview candidates)

  1. Log IRS and State correspondences; delegate accordingly to the proper department/person

  1. Work closely with Administrative Team to ensure the proper processing/releasing of Tax Returns and various tasks

  1. Work with Tax Onboarding team to ensure proper training is being provided

Job requirements

Education and Experience

  • Bachelors degree or higher in Accounting Tax or related field

  • CPA or EA required

  • 8 years experience in public accounting or its equivalent

  • Proven experience with Lacerte tax preparation software is highly desirable

  • Thorough knowledge of tax laws

  • Strong communication interpersonal and organizational skills

  • Experience managing a team strongly preferred

Travel

No travel is expected for this position.

Work Environment

This job operates in a clerical office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers phones photocopiers filing cabinets and fax managements approval remote work may be allowed using firm-approved office equipment. Correspondence with coworkers may be in person or through virtual means.

Physical Demands

This is a largely sedentary role; however some filing may be required. This would require the ability to lift files open filing cabinets and bend or stand as necessary.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full time exempt position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Some flexibility in hours is allowed based on managements approval. The ability to work remotely is allowed based on managements approval.

Compensation
Minimum: $110000 - Maximum: $120000.00 USD
