St. Michaels House provides a comprehensive range of services and supports to men women and children with disabilities and their families in 170 locations in the greater Dublin Area. The role of the Staff Nurse involves delivering holistic person-centred nursing care and support to individuals with intellectual physical &/or sensory disabilities. The goal is to promote independence and enhance quality of life across all aspects of daily living during their stay in respite.

Staff provide a variety of nursing social and emotional support needs. Individuals are supported during their breaks to engage in community-based activities and to achieve a meaningful respite break.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-standard nursing care in line with NMBI Code of Conduct relevant legislation and within organisational policies procedures protocols and guidelines.
  • To work as part of an interdisciplinary team to support individuals with their health wellbeing and social care.
  • To improve experience and outcomes for individuals with an intellectual disability.
  • Advocate for the rights will and preferences of individuals promoting dignity and inclusion.

Essential Requirements:

  • Hold a RNID qualification and be presently registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI).Other nursing disciplines can apply if they have at least 1 year experience in working with people with an intellectual disability
  • Newly Qualified RNIDs are encouraged to apply
  • Experience in supporting people with intellectual disabilities and those with positive behaviour supports
  • Have a working knowledge of SafeGuarding Policy
  • Knowledge of HIQA regulations for residential services
  • Strong commitment to person-centred human rights-based support and team-based working
  • A valid drivers licence is preferred due to travel requirements but not essential

Salary Scale : 38023 - 55826 LSI

  • Should you have no prior public sector experience you will be placed on point 1 of the pay-scale above
