Position Overview
A leading healthcare facility is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Surgical Technician to support surgical teams in a fast-paced Operating Room (OR) environment. The ideal candidate will assist in a variety of surgical procedures while maintaining a sterile field and ensuring optimal patient safety and care.
Responsibilities
Prepare operating rooms with surgical instruments sterile drapes and necessary supplies
Maintain sterile technique in accordance with established policies and AORN standards
Assist surgeons during procedures by passing instruments and sterile supplies
Handle retractors sutures and perform sponge/needle counts
Prepare label and manage surgical specimens appropriately
Assist with patient positioning and transport within the OR
Ensure proper functioning and readiness of surgical equipment
Apply surgical dressings as directed
Assist in medication preparation under supervision
Support patient transfer to recovery areas
Participate in room turnover cleaning and restocking supplies
Uphold patient safety privacy and dignity at all times
Collaborate with nursing staff and support specialty equipment needs
Participate in ongoing training and professional development
Qualifications
Experience:
Experience across multiple surgical specialties preferred
Orthopedic (Ortho) experience strongly preferred
Education:
Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technician or Operating Room Technician program (civilian or military)
Certifications (Required):
NBSTSA Certification (must be active and maintained)
Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
