Nature of Work

Thefundamental reason this job exists is to oversee the structural repair ofCity-owned vehicles and equipment. The workresponsibilities of this position areoverseeing the structural repair of automobiles light and heavy trucksmotorcycles and various types of City equipment; supervises two or morefull-time employees; and performs administrative functions. This job incumbent receives supervision fromthe Garage Superintendent.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or G.E.D. andfive (5) years of experience as a journeyman Auto Body Repairer performingframe body finish and paint work on automobiles heavy and/or light trucks.

NOTE: Qualifying education training and experience that provide the requisite knowledge skills and abilities to perform the job will be considered.

Special Requirements

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:Physical ability to lift heavy equipment engine and body parts assisted or unassisted weighing 50-100 pounds in order to maneuver heavy objects to make repairs. Physical ability to stand for long periods of time of up to 3 or 4 hours in order to make repairs. Physical ability to stoop bend and crouch as needed to make repairs. Physical ability to work in a dusty environment as needed to make repairs. Physical ability to climb to heights of up to 12 feet using a step ladder in order to make repairs.

Kind of Examination
