Staff Product Engineer

Wise is opening a new office in Hyderabad that will be in the heart of product development of the company. Were looking for a Tenured Full Stack Engineer to join our very first product team in Hyderabad which will be part of Asia & Pacific regional expansion.

APAC customers are a strong contributor to the Wises growth. India plays a crucial part of it. A big part of this growth comes from new customer acquisitions so having a fast convenient and delightful customer onboarding journey and money movement are central to this growth. Thats the mission of the India Product team and were looking for people who can make this happen. If this sounds like an exciting challenge wed love to hear from you!

Heres how youll be contributing to the team

• Design scalable onboarding solutions tailored to diverse APAC markets reducing redundancies and driving up conversion rates

• Implement scalable KYC controls across multiple regulatory markets with minimal friction in the customer journey

• Build and maintain automations and tooling to process customer documents and other sensitive identity data in a scalable and cost-efficient way Wron

• Utilise the observability stack and analytics to identify gaps and unlock new opportunities for growth and operational excellence.

• Help with the technical roadmap of the team and ensure its progress and delivery

A bit about you

• You have at least 8 years of professional experience in software engineering or related roles with a proven track record of delivering high-impact production-grade systems.

• You have extensive experience with JVM-based systems (Java 17) and the Spring Boot ecosystem.

• You have led the architecture and delivery of large-scale systems that have had a measurable impact on business outcomes beyond a single team.

• You have spent at least 3 years in a technical leadership role where you were leading project teams and setting technical direction for the team

• You possess deep expertise in distributed systems and have designed highly available fault-tolerant services

• You have experience working with relational and non-relational databases schema design and query optimisation

• You approach challenges with a strong product mindset using data-driven insights to fix complex customer pain points

• You can articulate high-level technical strategies to non-technical stakeholders and provide mentorship to Senior engineers.

• You are familiar with deployment frameworks and have experience managing the full lifecycle of a service from design to deployment to production observability.

but dont worry we dont expect you to know everything!

Some extra skills and experiences that would be great:

• You have experience with financial systems particularly how money moves globally

• You understand the technical challenges of integrating third-party verification providers managing sensitive identity and building modular KYC workflows that can be adapted for different regulatory bodies

• Lead large (>10 engineering weeks) sized projects that have a meaningful impact on Wise product and customers

• Embrace long-term ownership of projects while training other engineers to reduce single points of failure

• Architect and design services that allow for iterative delivery and future scaling
