Location: 180 East Pulaski Road
Days: Monday to Friday 2 Saturdays/month
Hours: 7:00am - 4:00pm Saturday 7:20am-12:0pm
Full-time: Benefit Eligible
Hourly Rate: $17.50 - $18.50/hr
The Receptionist Phlebotomy Laboratory serves as the first point of contact for patients clients and visitors entering the laboratory service area. This position is responsible for greeting patients verifying demographic and insurance information registering laboratory orders scheduling appointments answering phones coordinating specimen flow and providing clerical support to the phlebotomy and laboratory team. The Receptionist helps ensure a smooth efficient and patient-centered experience while maintaining compliance with privacy safety and laboratory protocols. Similar front-end duties commonly include patient identification order entry and database accuracy in lab workflows.
In this role you will:
Greet and check in patients for laboratory and phlebotomy services
Verify patient identity using established protocols
Confirm physician orders requisitions and test requests
Enter patient demographics insurance and test information into the laboratory information system (LIS) or EMR
Schedule phlebotomy and specimen collection appointments
Answer incoming calls and assist patients providers and client offices with questions
Print specimen labels and prepare paperwork for phlebotomists
Receive log and route incoming specimens from courier or walk-in patients
Ensure all documentation is complete and accurate prior to specimen collection
Maintain front desk supplies forms and office materials
Coordinate communication between patients phlebotomists couriers and laboratory staff
Assist with scanning filing faxing and record retention
Maintain HIPAA confidentiality and patient privacy
Resolve patient concerns professionally and escalate issues when needed
Support wait-time management and patient flow during peak periods
All you need is:
High school diploma or GED required
Minimum 12 years of receptionist medical office or laboratory clerical experience preferred
Experience in a healthcare outpatient lab or phlebotomy setting strongly preferred
Knowledge of medical terminology preferred
Experience with EMR/LIS systems
Strong typing phone and data-entry skills
Excellent customer service and communication skills
Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Bonus points if youve got:
Familiarity with specimen collection workflows
Understanding of insurance verification and prior authorizations
Experience handling high-volume patient traffic
Strong conflict resolution and de-escalation skills
Ability to work collaboratively with laboratory and patient service teams
