The Opportunity: Patient Care Associate Transplant Unit

Why This Role Is Important
Under the direction of a registered nurse (RN) the Patient Care Associate (PCA) assists the multi-disciplinary health care team in clinical support functions to promote a safe compassionate patient care environment. The Transplant is seeking full time PCA with day and evening rotation shifts. Every third weekend requirement.

Skills
PCA assists patients with daily living needs supervising & reading vital signs drawing blood and acquiring EKGs. Responds to patient requests in a timely manner safeguarding patient confidentiality supervising patient safety Patient transport to varies destinations and always presenting in an encouraging manner.

Schedule
Day (7am-3pm / 7am-7pm) Evening (3pm-11pm) and Night (7pm-7am 11pm-7a) Rotational holiday and weekend schedule

Summary

Working under the direction of licensed personnel assists patients with activities of daily living tasks such as bathing dressing and eating. Also assists with taking patients temperature blood pressure pulse and respiration.

Essential Functions
Performs vital signs weights/heights intakes and outputs with accuracy and within established time frame and/or as requested.
-Completes all documentation in the medical record as required.
-Interacts with patients and their families effectively.
-Helps patients with a number of basic hygiene tasks. This may include bathing and dressing patients helping them use the toilet if needed and feeding them.
-Assist with helping patients turn and reposition themselves in bed as needed and help them move between the bed and a wheelchair if they use one.
-Listens to any health concerns patients may have and report those concerns to the nurses.
