JOB GOALS:To provide each enrolled student an opportunity to participate inextracurricular athletic activity that will foster physical skills a sense of worthand competence a knowledge and understanding of the pleasures of sportand the principles of fair play.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepare a master budget and supervise equipment inventories.
- Administers the athletic insurance program and assumes responsibility for processing reports and claims.
- Requisitions program supplies and equipment.
- Supervises all ticket sales and fund-raising events of the athletic program and assumes responsibility forproper handling of funds.
- Ensures all coaches are trained on Redbook Rules and assists in enforcing these rules.
- Secure and file the paperwork for equipment lease requests involving the athletic department.
- Prepare a master sports calendar that includes conference and non-conference games/events.
- Coordinate gym building and athletic field use with the high school office middle school office and/ordistrict office and maintain a building use calendar.
- Coordinate gym use for practices and games and give final clearance for the use of either the gym or theathletic field.
- Work with coaching staff and transportation supervisor to schedule all athletic departure times andprovide bus supervision with trip sheets.
- Take care of travel arrangements and overnight accommodations for players or athletic teams (and coaches) competing in postseason competition.
- Seek and recommend suitable competition for all non-conference events/games.
- Hire all officials for middle school and high school contests.
- Confirm officials contracts and all non-conference contest contracts.
- Secure game workers for athletic contests chain crews announcers clock operators score keepers linejudges etc. and submit the list of contracted workers for that contest to the event supervisor prior to theevent.
- Submit athletic expense request sheets for payment of officials and other workers to bookkeeper.
- Coordinate the collection of rosters for program information as needed.
- Act as a resource person and coordinator for all coaches.
- Assist in supervision at home athletic contests.
- Assist in the selection of coaches for the athletic program.
- Evaluate all athletic programs on an annual basis. Make recommendations for improvement to thebuilding principal and district administrator.
- Complete an evaluation form and hold a conference with all coaches.
- Mediate the resolution of problems issues and concerns that may arise between coaches and athleticprograms.
- Provide a channel through which students and the community may express their concerns about anathletic program.
- Provide for in-service of coaching staff as needed.
- Disseminate KHSAA materials and enforce KHSAA rules and regulations including player eligibility.
- Collect file and notify athletes and coaches regarding student eligibility as it pertains to the KHSAAphysical forms and athletic code of conduct.
- Collect and maintain on file a properly completed physical forms for every student participating inathletics.
- Ensure district adherence to all KHSAA and district policies administrative rules procedures and codesrelating to and participation in athletics.
- Assist in the ordering of Post season awards for each program.
- Attend required athletic conference meetings.
- Fosters good school-community relations by keeping the community aware of and responsive to theathletic program. Serves as districts primary liaison with athletic booster clubs.
- Ensures in cooperation with athletic coaches that all fields and facilities are properly maintained.
- Plans and supervises an annual recognition program for school athletics.
- Performs such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as may be assigned by the principalor the superintendent.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:Salary and work year to be established by the superintendent.
