Job Duties

The Virginia Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) protects the public by preparing court-involved youth to be successful citizens. DJJ is committed to excellence in public safety by providing effective interventions that improve the lives of youth strengthening both families and communities within the Commonwealth.

DJJ is currently hiring an Electrician. This role will perform complex electrical work in installation and maintenance related to the electrical components of construction repair and/ or renovation of existing buildings and their contents at the Virginia Public Safety Training Center. This position serves on call during nights weekends and holidays on a rotating basis. Perform duties safely and in a manner that supports the mission and goals of the Department of Juvenile Justice.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Knowledge of standard practices of the electrical trade/ installation/ maintenance of electrical equipment and code.
  • Ability to read / interpret blueprints/ drawing / diagrams and to perform all levels of electrical work with the use of related electrical equipment.

Additional Considerations

  • Possess journeyman level experience.
  • Possess trade experience in HVAC/ building automated system (BAS) Plumbing Fire Alarm Systems.
