The opportunity
Downer Utilities is seeking an experienced Zero Harm Advisor to support our Urban Utilities program across South East Queensland.
This is a genuinely field focused role with the majority of time spent on site supporting active water and wastewater works across Greater Brisbane and Ipswich. You will work closely with delivery teams to promote safe systems of work provide practical advice on site and positively influence safety outcomes.
What you will be doing
You will provide practical Zero Harm support across live construction and maintenance sites.
You will coach supervisors and crews on safe work practices and compliance.
You will conduct site inspections audits and observations.
You will support incident reporting investigations and corrective actions.
You will assist with inductions onboarding and workforce engagement.
You will ensure compliance with WHS legislation client requirements and company standards.
You will prepare reports and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
What we are looking for
You are a safety professional who enjoys being out in the field building relationships and influencing outcomes through practical engagement.
You will have a Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety as a minimum with a Diploma or Degree desirable.
You will have experience in a Zero Harm HSE or safety advisory role within utilities water wastewater civil or power environments.
You will bring strong working knowledge of WHS legislation and safety management systems.
You will be confident engaging with operational teams and subcontractors.
You will have strong communication and reporting skills.
You will hold a current drivers licence and be willing to travel between sites.
Experience in water or wastewater projects is beneficial but not essential. Candidates from power or civil infrastructure backgrounds are encouraged to apply.
