The Plant Operability & Design team has the concept and design responsibility for the water/steam cycle as well as for the overall plant integration and the overall plant control. The team duties include defining the basic design parameters of the plant issuing functional equipment specifications specifying operating and control concepts as well as control narratives for the plant control. It serves both R&D and Order to remittance (OTR) projects performs dynamic simulations and provides Inquiry to order (ITO) support including concept verification and functional guarantee definition.Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
The System Engineer has the concept and design responsibility for his/her area of work. For projects in execution phase he/she is required to consider the project-specific contractual design requirements to align them with partners and/or customers in coordination with project management.
For New Project Introduction (NPI) projects the Plant/Product Development Specification forms the base for his/her work and requires close coordination within the project team and with the Program Manager. Technical regulations and standards as well as GEVs EHS policy form part of the plant systems design.
The System Engineer has the technical and time schedule responsibility for his/her engineering work and services within the project which includes:
Verification of the overall cycle concept as well as defining individual BOP system concepts
Performing system design calculations and issuing functional equipment specifications
Defining operation concepts and issuing logic input for BOP systems and HRSG as well as for plant start-up and load control
Participating in software acceptance tests
Providing site support during project commissioning
Leading design and cost comparison on system level for NPI programs
In addition this role has a particular focus on the following responsibilities:
Taking ownership of detailed engineering activities specific to the Turnkey scope
Handling and further developing the new and still evolving AVEVA-based engineering work especially in the areas of P&ID and design-of-lists generation
Providing technical guidance and coordination to other engineers including supporting and onboarding newcomers to enable efficient contribution to projects where GEV carries the responsibility for the detailed system engineering
Preparing reviewing and driving Control Specifications with a strong level of technical ownership
Supporting commissioning activities mainly remotely while being flexible for short site missions when required
Qualifications/Requirements:
Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or related disciplines from an accredited university or college or equivalent knowledge and experience
At least 10 years of experience with minimum 5 years in power plant engineering
Plant Integration experience in upstream engineering processes like performance calculation GT or ST technology
Experience with AVEVA engineering tools and processes particularly for P&ID and design-of-lists generation
Strong experience in control specification and plant control-related engineering
Ability to provide technical guidance to less experienced engineers to support team development
Problem analysis and resolution skills
Willingness to travel
Great communication skills
Desired Characteristics:
Strong interpersonal and leadership skills; able to interface effectively within the organization across different functions as well as outside the company with customers and partners
Demonstrated experience in documenting planning promoting and managing programs that strengthen business knowledge understanding and capabilities.
Familiarity with root cause analysis methodologies for RCA and NCR handling
Speaking Taiwanese
