Position Summary: | |
The post holder will work as part of the Spinal Service in Beaumont Hospital Physiotherapy Department. They will carry an outpatient caseload of patients with complex and routine spinal pathologies. The post holder will work in consultation with the Spinal Clinical Specialist Physiotherapist to manage all aspects of the service including staff grade supervision and develop pathways of care from referral to discharge. |

Operational The Senior Physiotherapist will:
To provide expert advice and guidance for other healthcare professionals patients and carers. To carry a caseload of patients who have been referred to the Physiotherapy Department. The post holder will attend relevant departmental and multidisciplinary meetings and will be involved in strategic planning for patients referred to the Physiotherapy Department.

The Senior Physiotherapist will: Work collaboratively with other physiotherapists medical nursing and other health and social care professionals across the acute and community services in providing optimal clinical care and in further developing the service. Establish links with other organisations both national and international where appropriate providing support and information regarding this clinical area and utilising these additional resources where necessary to benefit patient care. Accountability: |
Senior Physiotherapist will report to Physiotherapy Manager in Charge III for physiotherapy clinical governance attendance and service performance management. |
Qualifications
Selection Criteria: Selection criteria outline the qualifications skills knowledge and/or experience that the successful candidate would need to demonstrate for successful discharge of the responsibilities of the post. 1. Statutory Registration Professional Qualifications Experience etc you are a section 91 candidate please see note * AND (ii) Candidates must have three years full time (or an aggregate of three years full time) post qualification clinical experience. AND (iii) Have the requisite knowledge and ability (including a high standard of suitability and professional ability) for the proper discharge of the duties of the office. AND (iv) Provide proof of Statutory Registration on the Physiotherapists Register maintained by the Physiotherapists Registration board at CORU before a contract of employment can be issued 2. Annual registration (i) On appointment practitioners must maintain annual registration on Physiotherapists Register maintained by the Physiotherapists Registration Board at CORU AND (ii) Practitioners must confirm annual registration with CORU to the HSE by way of the annual Patient Safety Assurance Certificate (PSAC). 3. Additional Skills *note Individuals who qualified before 30th September 2018 and are registered or have applied for registration under Section 91 of the Health and Social Care Professionals Act 2005 must hold a Physiotherapy qualification approved by CORU in order to be eligible to apply.
