Summary:

The purpose of this role is to provide education and maintain continuing competencies for L&D Post Partum and NICU role reports to the network Admin Director of Professional Development.

Responsibilities:

1. In collaboration with the department of Nursing Education and Research coordinates and tracks education for unit interdisciplinary staff that assures up to date competencies and required certifications as appropriate to role. Coordinates and tracks completion of unit-based orientations

2. Collaborates with department Nurse Managers to develop and coordinate unit based and online education plans for Family Birth Center NICU and Pediatrics. Conducts education for the department. Supports and encourages nurses pursuing and maintaining specialty certifications. Provides CEUs for unit specific educational programs as appropriate. Coordinates annual MCH seminar.

5. Collaborates with medical staff members and nurse managers to plan and facilitate clinical drills for high-risk situations. Participates in EFM strip reviews huddles and high-risk rounds.

6. Collaborates with departmental medical and nursing leadership and Quality Coordinator to develop unit-based patient safety goals evidence based and team focused policies procedures and clinical practice guidelines aligned with the organizations mission and strategic plan.

7. Functions as a mentor role model and clinical resource and provides feedback to nurse managers for staff member performance evaluations.

8. Fulfills all compliance responsibilities related to the position.

9. Performs other duties as assigned.

Education Skills Experience:

Education / Skills / Experience

Essential:

* Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support

* Basic Life Support

* Neonatal Resuscitation Program

* Registered Nurse

* Masters Level Degree

  • Minimum Experience: five years

Other Information:

Required: Labor and Delivery acute care experience. Ability to coordinate with department managers to develop unit-based education plans. Ability to manage multiple priorities and support change initiatives. Ability to work collaboratively with all levels of nursing and medical personnel. Promotes team building leadership and professionalism through mentoring and role modeling. Strong communication skills well developed organizational analytical and project management skills.

Desired: PALS and EFM instructor preferred

Working Conditions:

Manual: Some manual skills/motor coord & finger dexterity

Occupational: Some occupational risk

Physical Effort: Medium to Heavy effort. May exert up to 35 lbs. force

Physical Environment: Some exposure to dirt odors noise human waste etc.
