Job Summary
Position Summary:West Warwick Public Schools seeks a strong educational leader to assume thevital position of Principal for a school that serves as the WWPS alternativelearning program for middle and high school students. The candidate mustpossess effective communication skills and a commitment to a distributedleadership model of management and instructional Responsibilities: Must be able to articulate a vision for an alternative school in WestWarwick to meet the needs of all students. Responsible for building and improving the schools culture climate andinstructional programs. Manage the organization operations and available resources to promote asafe efficient and effective learning environment. Establish and implement clear instructional goals and specificachievement objectives for the school. Work within the framework of policies laws and regulations enacted bylocal state and federal authorities. Coordinate the program activities of staff and students in developing goalsmission statements etc. Facilitates change and innovation in theinstructional program. Participate in curriculum development efforts. Clarify or interpret theeducational aims/objectives of the school program. Evaluate the totalinstructional program. Participate in the development of a Work-Based Learning Program. Advocate for the use of technology to change the delivery of instruction. Provide in-service staff development opportunities to address specificneeds. Organize orientation programs for new staff. Assist in the development and implementation of programs to meet theneeds of at-risk students. Special Student Populations: (ESL special education Title I students andat-risk students) coordinate activities in the planning organizationstaffing and review of programs serving the above special populations inthe school. Work in conjunction with the principal of the middle school & high schoolin the coordination and articulation of transitional programs. Develop coordinate and implement the schools strategic plan inalignment with the District Strategic Plan. Responsible for organizing and supervising school sponsored eventswithin and outside of the school. Assess the effectiveness of the schools programs and report annually tothe Superintendent of Schools and/or his/her designee any necessarychanges. Remain current of changes in local state and national education policy. Demonstrate a personal and professional code of ethics. Demonstrate values beliefs and attitudes that inspire others to higherlevels of performance. Treat people fairly equitably and with dignity and respect in an ethicalmanner. Protect the rights and confidentiality of students and staff. Prepare the master schedules for students/staff. Perform technical/managerial duties necessary to the daily operations ofthe school. Prepare the annual operating budget for the school. Responsible for the safety cleanliness and appearance for the entire schoolcomplex. Influence policy and implement the same at the building level. Conduct building level staff meetings. Communicates program progress school programs achievements andspecial events and activities. Collaborate with families and community members responding to diversecommunity interests and needs and mobilizing community resources. Model integrity fairness and ethical behavior to help in the development ofa caring and supportive school community. Embrace diversity and gender equity in support of a multi-lingualmulticultural multi-social and economically diverse community. Participate in district-wide initiatives examples to include alternativeschools management information safety teacher evaluations and SchoolImprovement Team. Assist in the development and implementation of programs to meet theneeds of at-risk students. Perform any other duties as may be necessary from ones own observationor as directed by the Superintendent of Schools and/or his/her and Evaluates: Responsible for the supervision and evaluation of all personnelassigned to Alternative Learning Qualifications: R.I. certification: Building Level Administrator PK-12 Masters Degree Three years successful teaching experience Knowledgeable of the Rhode Island Special Education Referral toPlacement Process Knowledgeable of Multi-Tier System of Supports Knowledge and experience with educator teacher evaluation Demonstrated commitment and experience in the integration oftechnology in instruction Supervisoryadministrative experience in servicing students with AutismDevelopmental Disabilities and Emotional Of Employment: Work year with salary as determined by the West Warwick School : An annual performance evaluation will be completed by the Superintendent ordesignee.
