The Financial Analyst supports the US finance operations of an international freight forwarding organization. This role focuses on balance sheet ownership bank reconciliations and financial analysis using CargoWise in a fast-paced logistics environment. The position is well suited for a developing finance professional with a strong accounting foundation gained through an Associates degree and relevant hands-on experience.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Analysis
Assist with monthly quarterly and year-end close processes
Prepare and analyze financial reports in accordance with US GAAP
Perform variance analysis and provide explanations for financial results
Support budgeting and forecasting activities for US operations
Partner with operations and management to support financial decision-making
Perform other related duties as assigned
Balance Sheet Management
Own and reconcile assigned balance sheet accounts on a monthly basis
Analyze and resolve discrepancies related to accruals prepaids and clearing accounts
Monitor intercompany balances and ensure timely reconciliation
Maintain balance sheet accuracy in accordance with company policies
Perform other related duties as assigned
Bank Reconciliations & Cash Management
Perform regular bank reconciliations for multiple US bank accounts
Research and clear reconciling items promptly
Support daily cash position reporting and cash flow analysis
Assist with foreign currency transactions and month-end revaluations
Perform other related duties as assigned
CargoWise Financial Operations
Utilize CargoWise for financial postings reporting and reconciliations
Review job costing WIP AR/AP and revenue recognition within CargoWise
Reconcile CargoWise subledgers to the general ledger
Assist with improvements to CargoWise finance processes and reporting
Perform other related duties as assigned
Compliance & Audit Support
Follow company accounting policies and procedures
Prepare schedules and documentation for internal and external audits
Support compliance with applicable US tax and regulatory requirements
Participate in continuous process improvement initiatives
Perform other related duties as assigned
Qualifications & Experience
Required
Associates degree in Accounting Finance or related field (minimum)
1 4 years of relevant accounting or financial analysis experience
Working experience with CargoWise (finance modules preferred)
Solid understanding of balance sheet accounts and bank reconciliations
Basic working knowledge of US GAAP
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (PivotTables lookups formulas)
Preferred
Bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance
Experience in freight forwarding logistics or transportation industries
Experience with multi-currency accounting
Progress toward CPA or equivalent certification
