The Opportunity
KBR is seeking a highly capable Trade Compliance & Export Controls Specialist to support complex Defence programs. This role sits within a high-performing compliance function and will ensure adherence to international trade regulations export controls and contractual obligations across Foreign Military Sales (FMS) and commercial activities.
Supporting Australias Guided Weapons portfolio this position plays a critical role in enabling sovereign capability while ensuring strict compliance with domestic and international regulatory frameworks.
Responsibilities:
- Provide subject matter expertise on export controls including ITAR and Australian Defence export regulations
- Lead the preparation submission and management of export licence applications and approvals
- Support compliance activities relating to FMS cases and commercial Defence contracts
- Review draft and advise on agreements involving controlled goods technology and data transfers
- Ensure compliance with legal regulatory and contractual requirements across all program phases
- Partner with Legal Contracts Security and Program teams to embed compliance frameworks
- Conduct compliance assessments audits and risk mitigation activities
- Deliver training and guidance to internal stakeholders on export control obligations
As the ideal candidate you will bring:
- Demonstrated experience in export controls international trade compliance or Defence regulatory environments
- Strong working knowledge of ITAR and Australian export control legislation (including Defence Trade Controls)
- Experience supporting FMS programs and/or complex commercial contracting environments
- Proven ability to interpret and apply regulatory requirements to operational programs
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to influence across multidisciplinary teams
- High level of attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving capability
- Relevant tertiary qualification in law international trade business or related discipline (desirable)
- Minimum AGSVA NV1 Security Clearance and Australian citizenship required to be eligible.
