Qualifications: Preferred: Five (5) years of successful school accounting experience and state and federal accounting budget preparation and payroll Experience working with Infinite Visions accounting system Required: A bachelors degree from an accredited college or university with a major in accounting or business administration Two (2) years of successful school accounting experience and state and federal accounting budget preparation and payroll Knowledge of Accelegrants Aspen automated accounting systems and accounting practices Proficiency in the Rhode Island Uniformed Chart of Accounts (UCOA) Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office to include Microsoft Word and advanced use of Excel Two (2) or more years working directly with auditors during annual financial statement workers compensation and state level audits Demonstrated ability to perform the responsibilities above as evidenced by course work education and professional experience professional activities and the interview process Ability to communicate effectively both written and orally Ability to exercise good judgment Supervisory role over three (3) or more staff Such alternatives to the above qualification as the committee may find appropriate and acceptable Citizenship residency or work visa required This position requires 4 hours of job specific documented annual NSLP training in topic areas of nutrition operations administration and communications/marketing as provided by RIDE or an equivalent agency approved by the SupervisorJob Description General Duties: To assist the Director of Financial Operations in the efficient operation of the business office assuring that generally accepted accounting principles and practices are followed office professionalism and confidentiality are maintained. Essential Job Functions: Computation and preparation of various cost and expenditure reports to reflect the financial condition of the school district as required by state and federal laws Assist with the preparation and monitoring of the operating and grant budgets Facilitate adherence to all contractual commitments and legal expectations of the district Analyzes accounts trace errors and makes correcting journal entries as necessary Assist the Director of Financial Operations in preparing yearend financial statements and preparation of audit working papers Prepare responses to questions regarding financial statements and reports associated with various school department activities Prepare and submit grant financial statements and cash requests Analyze various grant bond legal medical and other areas to create specialized financial reporting Attendance at School Committee meeting if necessary Monitor and audit school activity accounts Check purchase order compliance with general and federal budgets and UCOA rules Assist the Director of Financial Operations with oversight and training of business office personnel Provide backup coverage for accounts payable and both certified and classified payrolls Maintain confidentiality. Due to the nature of the documents and information that the person in this position will be exposed to it is an essential and critical minimum qualification of this position that confidentiality is constantly maintained to the highest degree. Familiarity with the relevant district policies and state and federal confidentiality statues is required Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Financial Operations Reports to: Director of Financial Operations
