Summary of Job Function

At LGA our primary focus is on our people. As a Manager in LGAs OMA service line you will be responsible for providing bookkeeping and accounting services to a diverse range of clients both for-profit and not-for-profit across various industries - from startups to mature companies. This position combines performing accounting tasks and leveraging technology with developing strong client relationships.


Essential Job Duties:

  • Works as an effective team member to accurately complete various tasks including:
  • Performs a variety of accounting functions with demonstrating a deep understanding of professional accounting and bookkeeping practices
  • Demonstrates knowledge and efficient utilization of QBO technological features
  • Reviews general ledger accounts and performs reconciliations of key accounts.
  • Prepares and reviews work papers to support account balances.
  • Prepares month-end closings including the recording of adjusting journal entries as needed.
  • Prepares and reviews a Balance Sheet P & L and General Ledger under the accrual basis of accounting in a proficient manner.
  • Interprets financial reports to produce a budget to actual analysis KPIs and trends that are vital to a businesss decision-making process
  • Onboards new clients
  • Trains team members and clients in both accounting and software

  • Able to interact with the client regularly and develops client relationships with the clients leadership and accounting teams
  • Able to troubleshoot and resolve client inquiries regarding accounting and software concerns.
  • Extremely detail oriented and quality-focused
  • Monitors team performance by reviewing the quality of work timeliness of deliverables and adherence to client budgets by providing coaching and feedback when needed
  • Able to build strong working relationships in a collaborative environment with team members in all departments
  • Identifies and communicates client and engagement concerns as well as progress in a timely and organized manner
  • Able to quickly adapt to changing client and business dynamics
  • Passion and learning ability to embrace new technological platforms
  • Able to work with a sense of urgency and be flexible in tasks and time with managing your workload with adjustments to your schedule especially during peak workload times in the department
  • Able to balance with ease multiple priorities and clients with weekly and monthly deliverables in a fast-paced deadline-driven environment
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with clients and team members
  • Is sought out by peers as a resource in respective specialization(s). Participates in the development of staff by leading training sessions and encouraging staff and seniors to do the same
  • Effectively communicates accounting issues and developments to clients provides value added service and actively seeks specialized knowledge
  • Uses Firms technology platform or external applications to enhance project efficiency; develops technology strategy during project planning. Ensures that entire engagement team is utilizing the Firms technology in the most efficient manner
  • Communicates to the engagement team and the client the potential impact of new accounting pronouncements and uses this knowledge to identify additional client service opportunities
  • Exhibits advanced skills in client research documentation and overall quality assurance.
  • Applies in-depth knowledge of the clients industry to advise each client on business process improvements
  • Demonstrates expertise in firm-specific software (CCH Microsoft QuickBooks etc.) and encourages engagement team members to use this technology to improve client service and engagement efficiently
  • Effectively reviews engagement team deliverables to ensure completeness and accuracy and helps the team to develop self-review skills

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting Taxation or a related field
  • Masters degree in Accountancy or Tax or a plan to pursue preferred
  • CPA EA or QuickBooks Pro Advisor certification or a plan to pursue preferred
  • 5-9 years experience in a related field

Required Qualifications:

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word Excel Outlook etc.).
  • Experience with the CCH Suite of Products (ProSystem fx Tax Engagement Document Portal) is a plus.
  • Experience with QuickBooks Online (QBO) and QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) is a plus.
  • Ability to review and troubleshoot OMA software issues and guide junior staff in usage.
  • Comfortable working in a technology-driven paperless environment.
  • Strong organizational skills detail oriented and able to manage multiple deadlines.
  • Ability to work with a sense of urgency and be flexible in tasks and time while managing your workload with adjustments to your schedule especially during peak workload times in the service line.
  • Demonstrated skill in reviewing work prepared by junior team members identifying errors and ensuring compliance.
  • Ability to mentor and train junior team members providing constructive feedback.
  • Acts as a culture carrier ensuring alignment with the firms vision and values.
  • Respect for compliance and confidentiality.

The compensation range for this position is $115000 - $175000 annually. Actual pay will depend on various factors including the scope and responsibilities of the role the candidates qualifications skills experience and relevant certifications.
