Job Summary
Summary of Position
The Event and Conference Coordinator manages and executes small to mid-level events in cooperation with internal departments for events both on and off campus. This position also assists with other large-scale events and major campus events.
Primary Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and support by raising the quality of events and the image of the University.
- Lead and manage assigned events and ensure that events are tied to the mission and have a consistent feel that reinforces the Universitys brand.
- Provide quality customer service and form positive working relationships.
- Provide leadership and support to student support staff.
Additional Responsibilities
Event Planning & Management
- Independently plan and manage assigned small to mid-level events/portions of events; partner with departments to determine event goals and objectives and final event logistics.
- Assist with the planning and coordination of large-scale or major campus events.
- Provide onsite leadership to live events by making real-time unsupervised decisions directing staff and volunteers evaluating risks and course-correcting when necessary to ensure events remain successful on-budget and mission-centered.
- Make decisions related to event logistics in partnership with on and off--campus partners including catering public safety facilities/custodial IT rental vendors musicians and staff.
- Collaborate with Marketing and Communications and event clients to maintain master web calendar content of campus events and activities and create brand appropriate event collateral where appropriate.
- All other duties as apparent or assigned by supervisor(s).
Summer Conference Planning
- Independently plan and manage assigned summer conferences and camps including coordination of residence hall stays event logistics contracting payments and end of summer reports.
- Coordinate with on-campus partners such as Public Safety campus food service facilities custodial and residence life as needed.
- All other duties as apparent or assigned by supervisor(s).
Qualifications :
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in events business communication liberal arts or a related field
- 1-3 years of related experience required. Prior experience working in a campus events department; may be substituted for post-collegiate experience where appropriate.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in higher education.
- Experience with AV equipment.

Work Environment and Physical Demands
- Typical work environment is an office. Sedentary work for long periods of time.
- Regular computer and phone use.
- Potential for longer work hours which could include evenings and weekends.
- Travel: up to 25% local travel and 5% non-local and overnight travel.

Compensation & Benefits at Augsburg
- The compensation range is $48000 - $53000 DOQ.
