Description

Position Title: Counselor.
Department: Counseling Center.
Classification: Exempt.
FTE: 0.50.
Work Schedule: 8:00 a.m. 5:00 p.m. 3 days/week M-F (one of which is Wednesday); this position is expected to take emergency calls and participate in occasional evening/weekend activities; this position is also expected to be on-site and provide in-person services. September 1 May 31 with occasional exceptions; the position will be on vacation during student breaks.
Work Location: On Campus.
Salary Range: $34000 - $41000.

Position Overview:
To provide mental health services to our students actively engage in developing and implementing internal and outreach programming and collaborate with campus and community partners.

Essential Job Duties:

  • Provide individual couples and group counseling using a short-term therapy model 60% of time.
    • Intakes.
    • Assessments/evaluations.
    • Counseling sessions.
    • Referrals.
    • Aftercare planning.
    • Crisis management.
    • Drop-in consultations.
  • Implement case management responsibilities with accurate timely record keeping - 15% of time.
    • Intakes.
    • Assessments/evaluations.
    • Counseling sessions.
    • Referrals.
    • Communication with students and other parties.
  • Actively engage in clinical consultation/supervision 10% of time.
    • Providing feedback.
    • Providing support.
    • Generation of new ideas.
  • Actively engage in developing and implementing internal and outreach educational program designed to meet the needs of our students 7% of time.
    • Prevention programming.
    • Postvention programming.
    • Workshops/training for students faculty and staff.
  • Provide group clinical supervision/consultation with our graduate therapy practicum students- 5% of time.
  • Provide consultation services to faculty staff parents/families and students 2% of time.
  • Engage in continuing education and professional growth activities 1% of time.
    • Maintain professional licensure.

Supervision Received and Exercised:

  • Reports to the Director Counseling Center.
  • This position does not supervise anyone.

Required Qualifications:

  • Education:
    • Masters degree in clinical/counseling psychology social work or related clinical Field; eligibility licensure to practice in MN within one year of start date.
  • Experience:
    • 1 years of post-graduate clinical experience; successful record of providing clinical services to a young adult population.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Education:
    • Terminal degree in counseling/clinical psychology social work or related clinical field; currently licensed in MN as a psychologist counselor social worker or has related clinical licensure OR eligibility for licensure to practice in MN by start date.
  • Experience:
    • 3 years of post-graduate clinical experience; previous college counseling experience; prior experience in developing and implementing educational programming and/or group programming; interest and ability to provide individual supervision to practicum graduate students from Masters Doctoral or Social Work graduate programs; crisis assessment and intervention skills and experience; specialized training in treatment of eating disorders and/or substance use disorders.

  • Ability to handle a busy caseload in a dynamic environment while completing.

  • Availability and willingness to participate in occasional evening or weekend activities.
