QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Must be at least 18 years of age; proof of high school graduation/GED equivalent required.
2. Experience working in a child care or educational setting preferred.
3. Physically able to lift carry push and pull up to 50 pounds.
4. Ability to follow and implement planned activities and supervise children.
5. Ability to speak read and write the English language.
6. Demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills with children parents co-workers and supervisors.
7. Demonstrate a professional appearance and attitude.
8. Demonstrate excellent judgment and decision making skills.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

197 Days (split shift)

SALARY/PAYGRADE:

$15.15 per hour / HS4

Maximum 25 hours per week

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Conduct provided activities with children according to the centers schedule.
2. Support a positive classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical social and emotional development of young learners.
3. Utilize age appropriate strategies to manage the behavior of young learners in accordance with district and department policies and guidelines as well as the Minimum Standards for Child Care Centers.
4. Supervise children in all programming areas.
5. Establish and maintainprofessional relationshipsand open communication with parents children colleagues and community members.
6. Assist children with physical needs and personal care including feeding bathroom needs and personal hygiene.
7. Provide regular on-going communication to the ELC Director and ELC Instructor including seeking assistance with any necessary paperwork that must be completed during a shift.
8. Participate in staff development activities to improve job-related skillsand meet the yearly training requirements as outlined in the Minimum Standards for Child Care Centers.
9. Comply withstate districtand departmentregulations andpolicies pertaining to the role ofanELC Opener/Closer.
10. Attend and participate in staff and departmentmeetingsas required.
11. Adhere to all Texas Minimum Standards for Child Care Standards including participating in staff development activities to improve job-related skills and meeting the yearly training requirements.
12. Maintain confidentiality.
13. Provide quality customer serviceto children parents staff and all other stakeholders.
14. Perform any and all other duties deemed necessary by theELCDirectorthe Assistant Directorof Community ProgramsortheDirector of CommunityPrograms.
15. Regular and reliable attendance is an essential job function.
