Overview

Our client in the travel and tourism industry is looking for an experienced and dynamic Managing Director to provide strategic and operational leadership across its business. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of organisational performance including operations people financial outcomes and long-term growth.

This role requires a visionary leader capable of developing and executing business strategy ensuring alignment with broader organisational objectives while driving operational excellence sustainable growth and exceptional service standards.

Primary Purpose

The Managing Director plays a pivotal role in shaping the strategic direction and success of the organisation. The role is accountable for delivering strong financial performance operational efficiency and adherence to governance standards while maintaining a focus on innovation sustainability and stakeholder engagement.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership & Governance

  • Develop implement and drive the overall business strategy to enhance profitability and growth

  • Align business strategies with broader organisational objectives and vision

  • Provide quarterly management reports to the Board covering strategy financial performance governance risk human capital impact and stakeholder relations

  • Ensure effective communication with the Board to support informed decision-making and governance

Operational & Financial Management

  • Oversee all operations to ensure delivery against financial quality and compliance targets

  • Monitor and manage budgets to ensure financial efficiency and sustainability

  • Drive performance management through the development and tracking of key metrics

  • Oversee investments business ventures and overall financial health of the organisation

Leadership & People Management

  • Provide strong leadership mentorship and direction to the senior management team

  • Foster a high-performance culture aligned with organisational values

  • Inspire engage and motivate employees across all levels of the business

  • Promote diversity inclusion and a collaborative working environment

Business Growth & Innovation

  • Identify and pursue new growth opportunities and revenue streams

  • Drive innovation and continuous improvement across all areas of the business

  • Analyse market trends and industry developments to inform strategic decisions

  • Establish and maintain relationships with key stakeholders partners and industry experts

Stakeholder & Brand Management

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders

  • Uphold and enhance the organisations reputation within the industry

  • Ensure consistent delivery of brand standards service excellence and overall experience

Problem Solving & Decision Making

  • Analyse complex challenges and implement effective sustainable solutions

  • Provide thought leadership both internally and externally

  • Ensure the organisation remains agile and responsive to change

Reporting Lines
  • Direct reporting to the Board of Directors

  • Functional reporting to the Group Chief Operating Officer

Requirements

Qualifications & Experience

  • Postgraduate degree in Business Management Business Administration Commerce or related field

  • Minimum 10 years experience in the private sector with at least 15 years in senior operational leadership roles

  • Proven track record of leading within a complex business environment

  • Strong understanding of corporate finance and performance management principles

  • Demonstrated experience in strategic planning and execution

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite particularly Excel
