Mechanical Production Supervisor

Job Title: Mechanical Engineer – Floor Production (Sheet Metal & Assembly)

Job Summary:

We are seeking a hands-on Mechanical Engineer to manage and supervise shop-floor production activities specifically involving sheet metal fabrication machining and assembly of technical equipment. The candidate will be responsible for ensuring quality output timely production and adherence to engineering standards.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Production Supervision

• Supervise day-to-day shop floor activities including fabrication welding and assembly
• Monitor production schedules and ensure timely completion of jobs
• Coordinate with planning procurement and quality teams

2. Sheet Metal Operations

• Handle sheet metal processes such as:
• cutting / punching Welding
• Bending (Press Brake)
• Shearing rolling and fabrication
• Ensure correct material utilization and nesting practices
• Read and interpret fabrication drawings

3. Assembly & Manufacturing

• Oversee mechanical assembly of equipment / machines
• Ensure proper alignment fitting and functionality
• Work on prototype development and custom-built systems (important for your training rigs)

4. Quality Control

• Implement quality checks at each stage of production
• Ensure adherence to engineering drawings and specifications
• Handle rework rejection analysis and corrective actions

5. Vendor & Workforce Management

• Supervise technicians welders and operators
• Coordinate with job work vendors for outsourced fabrication
• Ensure discipline safety and productivity on shop floor

6. Documentation & Reporting

• Maintain production reports job cards and inspection records
• Update management on progress delays and issues
• Support project execution documentation if required

Required Skills & Competencies:

• Strong knowledge of sheet metal fabrication & welding processes
• Ability to read AutoCAD / fabrication drawings
• Experience in machine assembly / industrial equipment manufacturing
• Knowledge of MS fabrication tolerances and finishing
• Basic understanding of quality tools & inspection methods
• Hands-on approach with strong problem-solving ability

Qualifications:

• Diploma / B.E. / in Mechanical Engineering
• 2–6 years of experience in manufacturing / fabrication industry

Preferred Experience (Important for Your Industry):

• Experience in educational training equipment / industrial machinery / automotive systems
• Exposure to engine-based setups (diesel/petrol rigs)
• Knowledge of welding machines or fabrication of technical labs

Salary Range (Ahmedabad Market):

• 30000 – 40000 per month (based on experience and skill level)
• Higher package possible for candidates with project handling & leadership experience

• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
• Willingness to be actively present on shop floor (not desk job)
• Good communication and coordination skills
