As the US CVRM Advocacy & Alliance Director you will shape AstraZenecas approach to partnering across the cardiovascular renal and metabolic landscape in the United States. You will set an overarching direction for collaboration with communitybased and professional groups cultivate trusted relationships with external leaders and independent voices and ensure all interactions reflect the highest standards of integrity and compliance. Internally you will be a connective force within Corporate Affairs and across scientific commercial and access teamsbringing forward lived experience and stakeholder insight to inform decisions and amplify AstraZenecas commitment to the communities we serve.
What youll do
Accountable for development of the US strategy planning execution and delivery of apatient-focused organizationengagement planaligned to AstraZeneca businessobjectivesacrosschroniccardiovascularrenaland metabolic conditions.
Maintain two-way dialogue withdisease-specific patient-focused and professionalorganizations to understand andidentifyunmet needandopportunityfor aligned collaboration.
Champion thepatientvoice perspective and experienceamongst internal colleagues advocating forreal worldcommunityperspective in the discovery development and delivery of AstraZenecas products.
Develop and apply stakeholder mapping toidentifyand develop new strategic relationships withprofessional andpatient-focused non-profitorganizations in therapeutic areas.
Serve as internal project lead for strategic partnershipsleadershipexchanges and outputs (e.g. white papers) ensuring deliverables are met within scope on time and within budget.
Representdisease-specific non-profitinterests to internal cross-functional partners including but not limited to: Commercial Medical Affairs Government Policy & Advocacy Corporate Affairs Clinical Research Regulatory Market Access Global Patient Affairs and Legal.
Communicate advocacy programs and activities to internal stakeholders and represent the companys patient-focusedefforts and priorities externally.
Coordinateregularmeetings with AstraZeneca leadership anddisease-specific non-profit organizationsto ensure continuity of relationships and trust building.
Partner with USCVRMBrand CommunicationsandGlobal Corporate Affairs colleagues to create media relations and strategic communications to highlight partnerships as needed.
Plan and leaddisease-specific professional and patient-focusedorganization and independent patient advocate engagement at major medical congresses.
Partner with policy and government affairs colleagues to engage with advocacy groups to advancealignedstate and federal respiratory policy priorities.
Handle reconciliation reports and other metricsidentifiedfor planned and ad-hoc funding to partners.
Manage agency partners and vendor relationships including budget management and oversight.
Undergo training and keep teams up to date on both internal and external policies and best practices to ensureappropriate interactionswith patient-focused andprofessionalnon-profit organizations and independent patient advocates
Essential for the role
Bachelors degree
At least 8-10 years experience working with non-profit organizations
Ability to navigate complex and matrixed organizations and contribute as both a strategic counsellor and strong individual contributor
Effective communicator and storyteller
Knowledge of the Federal and State policy space
Project management capability with knowledge of and direct experience working with patient advocacy groups and/or professional associations to develop and deliver programs and projects
Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
Strong presentation and facilitation skills
Experience reviewing or applying for grants or corporate funding
Ability toanticipateand adapt to change with strong problem-solving skills
Demonstrated innovation and creativity in problem solving
Desirable for the role
Advanced degree
Experience in Biopharmaceutical industry
Experience leading public health or disease education campaigns at a national andstatelevel
