Frontend Department Backup Red River Co-op at Southdale Food Store

The Opportunity:

Red River Co-op is recruiting for the position ofFrontend Department Backup at our Southdale Food Store located at 77 Vermillion Road in Winnipeg Manitoba.This position reports to the Frontend Frontend Department Backup adds value to our Co-operative by providing leadership to the Frontend Department and assisting the Frontend Manager in day-to-day operations.

Essential responsibilities of the position include the following:

• Assist the Frontend Manager in ensuring standards of department presentation and operations are met including cleanliness and sanitation food safety and food handling standards and the delivery of world-class customer service.

• Provide leadership and direction to employees in accordance with company policies procedures programs merchandising standards and overall expectations.

• Assist with scheduling department staff to meet the department needs.

• Assist with resolving problems that arise such as customer complaints supply shortages and staffing issues.

• Support cashiers and frontend staff. Operate a cash register take payment from customers and provide change.

• Follow all legal requirements regarding the sale of lottery products.

• Perform other duties as assigned.

About You:

To be successful in this role you will bring the following skills previous experience and competencies:

• Excellent interpersonal skills. Were looking for someone who builds great relationships with co-workers and customers.

• Strong customer focus and interest in serving others.

• Minimum 2 years of experience working in a retail grocery department is required.

• Experience in a supervisory role is considered an asset.

• A solid understanding of computer applications including Microsoft Office.

• Open availability and willing to work different shifts including days evenings and weekends.

• Available to work up to 40 hours per week.

• Good written and verbal communication skills.
