Job Title: Ophthalmic Technician
Location: New York NY
Job Type: Contract (13Weeks)
Compensation:
- Local Rate: $36 $40/hour
- Travel Rate: $44 $50/hour
Schedule:
- Shift: Day Shift
- Hours: 40 hours per week (5x8-hour shifts)
- Weekend Requirement: As needed
- Holiday Requirement: As needed
- Onsite Role (No remote flexibility)
Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Ophthalmic Technician to support physicians in an outpatient eye care setting. This role involves performing diagnostic eye tests assisting with patient care and maintaining ophthalmic equipment while ensuring an efficient clinical workflow.
Responsibilities:
- Perform preliminary eye exams including visual field testing tonometry color vision and ocular motility assessments
- Assist physicians with patient flow procedures and documentation
- Obtain and record patient medical histories
- Prepare patients for examinations and procedures
- Clean sterilize and set up instruments for clinical use
- Maintain calibrate and troubleshoot ophthalmic equipment (e.g. slit lamp tonometer keratometer)
- Coordinate lab tests imaging and procedure scheduling
- Ensure exam rooms are stocked and organized
- Educate patients on procedures and provide reassurance
- Assist with minor procedures including laser treatments
Requirements:
- Prior experience as an Ophthalmic Technician preferred
- Experience in outpatient or specialty clinic settings preferred
- Strong organizational communication and multitasking skills
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced clinical environment
- High attention to detail and accuracy
Education:
- High School Diploma or GED required
Certifications & Licensure:
- Ophthalmic Technician Certification required
