Location: Gardner MA 01440
Duration: 13-Week Contract
Shift: Evening Shift (3:00 PM 11:30 PM)
Schedule: 24 hours/week Every other weekend required
Job Overview
Navitas Healthcare LLC is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) to join a Behavioral Health Unit in Gardner MA. In this role you will provide direct patient care and support individuals with psychiatric and behavioral health needs while maintaining a safe respectful and therapeutic environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care under the supervision of a licensed nurse
- Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs) including hygiene toileting feeding and mobility
- Collect and report basic patient health data as directed
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient care
- Monitor patient safety and perform routine safety checks on the unit
- Assist in managing and de-escalating disruptive or potentially violent behavior
- Provide 1:1 patient observation when required
- Support patients in maintaining dignity hygiene and appropriate grooming
- Transport patients to tests and other departments as needed
- Participate in patient activities group sessions and therapeutic programs
- Maintain a clean safe and organized work environment
- Communicate effectively with nurses and interdisciplinary team members
- Assist with laundering and maintaining patient belongings
- Monitor patient activity in common areas for overall safety
Required Qualifications
- Active Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification (Massachusetts required)
OR one of the following:- Completion of at least 75 hours in an accredited nursing program (including first clinical rotation)
- Active EMT or Paramedic certification
- Active Patient Care Technician/Assistant certification
- Active Home Health Aide certification
- AHA CPR certification (required within 60 days of hire)
- Minimum 1 year of experience in a long-term care or healthcare setting preferred
- Experience or interest in behavioral/psychiatric patient care
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to handle high-stress situations and behavioral challenges
- Compassionate patient-centered approach to care
- Availability to work evening shifts weekends and in a team-based environment
