Job Overview
Navitas Healthcare LLC is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) to join a Behavioral Health Unit in Gardner MA. In this role you will provide direct patient care and support individuals with psychiatric and behavioral health needs while maintaining a safe respectful and therapeutic environment.
Key Responsibilities
Provide direct patient care under the supervision of a licensed nurse
Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs) including hygiene toileting feeding and mobility
Collect and report basic patient health data as directed
Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient care
Monitor patient safety and perform routine safety checks on the unit
Assist in managing and de-escalating disruptive or potentially violent behavior
Provide 1:1 patient observation when required
Support patients in maintaining dignity hygiene and appropriate grooming
Transport patients to tests and other departments as needed
Participate in patient activities group sessions and therapeutic programs
Maintain a clean safe and organized work environment
Communicate effectively with nurses and interdisciplinary team members
Assist with laundering and maintaining patient belongings
Monitor patient activity in common areas for overall safety
Required Qualifications
Active Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification (Massachusetts required) OR one of the following:
Completion of at least 75 hours in an accredited nursing program (including first clinical rotation)
Active EMT or Paramedic certification
Active Patient Care Technician/Assistant certification
Active Home Health Aide certification
AHA CPR certification (required within 60 days of hire)
Minimum 1 year of experience in a long-term care or healthcare setting preferred
Experience or interest in behavioral/psychiatric patient care
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to handle high-stress situations and behavioral challenges
Compassionate patient-centered approach to care
Availability to work evening shifts weekends and in a team-based environment
