Job Summary:

Under the direct supervision of the Sport Administrators for Cross Country and Track & Field lead Division I Mens & Womens Cross Country and Track & Field programs in accordance with NCAA Big Ten and University regulations.

    Key Job Responsibilities:

    Primary responsibilities include the following:

    • Teaching and instructing student-athletes in the fundamentals of Division I Collegiate Cross Country and Track & Field

    • Provide guidance motivation and leadership development to student-athletes

    • Attend all competitions including travel to away competitions throughout the competitive collegiate season

    • Develop and execute national and international recruiting strategies

    • Organization of data and analytics

    • Budget managing

    • Engage with alumni and supporters of program

    • Additional areas of responsibility may include: planning and conducting team practices individual skill instruction departmental collaboration performance of administrative academic outreach duties and other duties as assigned by the Sport Administrators.

    Compensation:

    Starting salary is negotiable depending on qualifications and experience.

    Required Qualifications:

    • Collegiate or professional Cross Country or Track and Field experience
    • Minimum four (4) years of collegiate or professional Cross Country or Track and Field coaching experience
    • Ability to foster athletic development and success while maintaining a strong emphasis on the personal development and academic achievement of student-athletes
    • Strong leadership interpersonal and communication skills
    • Excellent communication skills to work with student-athletes other coaches support staff and administrators

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Knowledge of and experience with NCAA and Big Ten rules
    • Administratively self-sufficient. Proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel and web applications
    • Familiarity with Teamworks Hub and related applications preferred
    • Ability to work cooperatively and build strong working relationships with diverse groups including administrators faculty staff students and alumni
    • Ability to develop student-athletes skills to maximize performance
    • Work well independently and in teams
    • Ability to be flexible in accepting new responsibilities

    Education:

    Bachelors degree required

    Conditions of Appointment: This is a 100% Limited Staff appointment. Salary will be assigned within the appropriate range commensurate with the candidates qualifications and experience.
