TheEngineering Manager Boiler Process forGE Steam Power India Services Engineeringwill be responsible for leading a team that deliversbasic and detailed engineering activities related to boiler performance for retrofit renovation modernization (R&M) and service projectsforsubcritical supercritical two-pass and tower-type boilers. This role will drive consistent engineering practices technical rigor and common global processes while ensuring safe high-quality and on-time delivery.

The Engineering Manager demonstrates leadership in communicating business goals programs and processes for the GE Steam Power India Services Engineering business this role you will utilize your experience and expertise to solve problems develop and execute objectives for self and team members and influence both short-term and long-term business goals. The role combinesstrong technical leadership in boiler performance engineeringwithpeople leadership and organizational responsibility.

Key Responsibilities:

Technical and Functional Leadership

  • Provide technical leadership and direction for theBoiler Performance Engineering teamacross projects programs and technical deliverables.
  • Lead engineering execution forboiler performance aspectsof retrofit service and R&M projects for subcritical and supercritical boilers ensuring compliance with design standards customer specifications and business requirements.
  • Drive technical excellence through participation indesign reviews technical reviews constructability reviews lessons learned implementation and continuous improvement initiativesfrom tendering through end-of-project engineering.
  • Ensure high-quality and consistent engineering output related toperformance calculations thermal assessments design reviews optimization studies and technical evaluations.
  • Support development and standardization of engineering methods tools templates and common global processes across the team.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams includingboiler piping firing systems ducting controls commissioning project management sourcing and global functional teamsto ensure integrated execution.
  • Establish monitor and improve engineering plans project schedules resource allocation and technical priorities to meet business objectives.
  • Ensure engineering solutions maintain the highest standards ofsafety quality delivery and cost (SQDC)in that order.

Operational Excellence

  • Drive common initiatives and metrics such asLife Saving Rules and Product Safety embedded in designOn-Time DeliveryRight First TimeKaizenproductivitycost outquality andLean Six Sigmaacross the team.
  • Monitor team performance against project commitments and business metrics; proactively identify communicate and mitigate technical or organizational risks.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable engineering standards quality processes EHS requirements and internal governance expectations.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement accountability and customer focus within the organization.
  • Support implementation of digital tools standard work and process improvements to enhance team efficiency and technical accuracy.

People Leadership

  • Lead develop and inspire a team of engineers by creating an inclusive high-performance work environment where individuals can contribute to their full potential.
  • Take ownership ofpeople management processes in Workday and other HR systems including organization updates employee records goal setting performance cycles and talent actions.
  • Driveworkforce planning and hiring activities including identifying resource needs preparing job requisitions participating in interviews selecting candidates and supporting onboarding of new hires.
  • Define team roles and responsibilities and ensure proper alignment of skills workload and development opportunities.
  • Set team and individual priorities in line with organizational goals project schedules customer commitments and business needs.
  • Conductannual performance discussions periodic check-ins goal reviews development planning and succession planning for team members.
  • Provide regular coaching feedback counseling and mentoring to support employee growth engagement and performance improvement.
  • Support salary planning promotion recommendations recognition and talent reviews in partnership with HR and business leadership.
  • Foster employee development through technical guidance training plans stretch assignments and exposure to cross-functional opportunities.
  • Address personnel matters with professionalism and sensitivity and ensure timely escalation and resolution of people-related concerns when needed.
  • Build leadership capability within the team and act as a resource for colleagues with less experience.

Stakeholder Management and Communication

  • Work closely with Engineering Leaders Engineering Managers Global Functional Leaders Project teams and other key stakeholders to define work plans and priorities consistent with organizational objectives.
  • Establish and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external interfaces to ensure customer and project requirements are clearly understood and achieved.
  • Effectively communicate technical schedule organizational and resource-related matters both vertically and horizontally across the organization.
  • Provide management visibility on technical issues organizational challenges resource needs and team performance.

Qualifications / Essential Requirements

  • Bachelors degree inMechanical or Chemical Engineeringor equivalent preferably with exposure toPower Plant systems.
  • Minimum12 years of engineering experienceinboiler engineering / performance engineering / thermal engineeringfor coal-fired boilers includingbasic and detailed engineering retrofit service or R&M activities.
  • Strong technical knowledge ofboiler performance thermal calculations combustion-related performance considerations and power plant systems.
  • Proven experience inleading and managing engineering teams with strong people leadership capability.
  • Demonstrated experience inresource planning task prioritization hiring performance management and team development.
  • Familiarity with engineering tools and systems relevant to boiler engineering and power plant applications.
  • Strong sense of urgency and ability to identify assess and manage technical and organizational risks.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills including experience creating and delivering presentations to stakeholders and leadership.
  • Ability to work to deadlines under pressure while maintaining safety quality and engineering integrity.
  • Flexibility in working hours and willingness to travel to sites as required.
