Department Overview
The On Track OHSU! Outreach Assistant will assist with in-person visits with schools in North/Northeast Portland Parkrose and Woodburn School Districts with time spent in our primary office on Marquam Hill. The Outreach Assistant will facilitate pre-developed lessons with students from 6th-8th grade prepare materials at our primary office and support events at OHSU.
We are looking for someone who is available two days per week (M-F) who can commit to a minimum of six hours per day during regular working hours for a total of 12-15 hours per week.
On Track OHSU! is part of OHSUs Office of Science Education Opportunities and works to increase the racial diversity of OHSUs schools and programs and of Oregons biomedical workforce. On Track works with students starting in 6th grade and stays with those same students through high
school and college. On Track has been working with students since 2013 and is currently partnering with communities in North Portland Parkrose Woodburn Warm Springs and Chiloquin.

Function/Duties of Position
- Assist On Track Middle School Coordinator with implementation of
pre-developed middle school lessons.- Facilitate and lead in-person visits for 6-8th grade students in Woodburn and North/Northeast Portland schools including Faubion PreK-8 Harriet Tubman Middle School Ockley Green Middle School Vernon K-8 Parkrose Middle School Valor Middle School and French Prairie Middle School.
- Support with On Track High School and Middle School Events at
OHSU.- Work with Program Director and Middle School Program Coordinator to prepare for On Track events including facilitation preparation organization of materials and event coordination. Communicate clearly and thoroughly with the Program Director and Middle School Program Coordinator on availability and other aspects pertaining to scheduling and preparation.

Required Qualifications
Currently a student enrolled in an undergraduate program (minimum 6
credit hours) OREnrolled in a graduate program (minimum 4.5 credit hours).
Demonstrated experience working with youth
Demonstrated record of reliable attendance punctuality and proven successful performance
Reliable method to travel to North/Northeast Portland school sites Woodburn school sites and Marquam Hill office
Knowledge of computer hardware and software especially PowerPoint
Willingness to serve as a positive and professional role model
Flexibility and adaptability
Time management
Preferred Qualifications
- Enrolled in STEM or Education coursework with a strong interest in working with youth in a classroom
- Experience leading middle school age youth through activities; past or present participation in a diversity program or group.
Additional Details
- Employees will facilitate in person lessons in Woodburn North/Northeast Portland and Parkrose schools and help organize materials in the On Track office located on OHSUs Marquam Hill campus in Portland OR.
- We are looking for someone available two days per week (M-F) who can commit to at least six hours per day during regular work hours. 12-15 hours a week.
- Reliable access to a car as position will require travel to OHSU campus and middle schools in N/NE Portland Parkrose and Woodburn.
