Job Summary
Camp Squanto is home to Mayflower Councils Scouting America summer resident camp. It is a 650 acre camping facility located deep in the woods of Myles Standish State forest in Plymouth Massachusetts. For five and a half weeks in the summer our trained staff run a high quality energetic long-term camping experience for Scouting units and individuals.

Were hiring staff for a wide range of roles including program instructors area directors dining hall staff trading post staff administrative support and camp leadership positions. No matter your area of interest youll be part of a team that delivers the magic of camp to hundreds of Scouts each week.
Staff Training Week: Late June- Early July
Camp Season: July Early August
Some positions may require National Camping School (NCS) training prior to camp (tuition covered).
Qualifications
- Full-season availability preferred
- Some outdoor camping experience
- Enjoy working outside
- Have a passion for working with youth
- Ability to work as part of a team in a fast-paced outdoor environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with campers leaders staff and visitors.
General Responsibilities of Resident Camp Staff
Working on camp staff means being part of something bigger than just a summer job-its about creating the kind of camp experience that youd want to have yourself. Every staff member helps maintain a fun welcoming and inclusive environment where every camper feels like they belong. Youll be more than just an instructor or counselor-youll be a role model setting the example for Scouts by living out the values of the Scout Oath and Law in everything you do. From helping set up and run program areas to joining in campwide traditions like flag ceremonies campfires and evening programs youll play a part in bringing camp to life. Staff members also participate in training before the season starts learning new skills bonding as a team and preparing for the weeks ahead. Once camp begins youll work side by side with other staff to teach skills lead activities and encourage campers as they grow in confidence character and adventure. No two days look exactly the same-you might be teaching a new skill in the morning running a big game in the afternoon and singing around the campfire at night. While each position has its own specific responsibilities every staff member contributes to the overall magic of camp by pitching in where needed supporting fellow staff and keeping campers safe through following Scouting Americas safeguarding and safety guidelines. Its challenging its rewarding and its one of the most unforgettable jobs youll ever have.
Requirements:
- Minimum age varies by position (16 18 or 21 depending on role). If hired must register as a member of the Scouting America
- Applicants over age 18 must apply as an adult member and pass a criminal background check
- Some positions require National Camping School (NCS) certification; training will be provided by the council.
- Submit a completed application
- Provide 3 references
- Valid First Aid/CPR/AED certification recommended
- Some Area Director positions require National Camp School certifications training assessed after hiring
