Operator Competency Advisor (6-month Contract)

Essential Responsibilities:
- Facilitates and delivery of competency programs in both classroom and one-on one settings to new hires existing operators and assessors
- Tailor Competency approaches to the needs of successors and ensure they are well-prepared to evaluate operators
- Perform consistent accurate and reliable assessments on operators and the competent assessors abilities to operate specific equipment in the field in a safe and competent manner
- Create competent assessors by visiting project sites and utilizing the program
- Develop and administer written and practical assessments to evaluate operator competency
- Create and submit detailed records of assessment results into Workday Learn and provide feedback to operators and assessors.
- Monitor and assess the effectiveness of competency programs making adjustments as necessary
- Perform regular audits and reviews of competency program materials and documentation
- Identify areas for improvement and ensure consistency in Competency delivery across the organization
- Stay updated with the latest industry trends technologies and regulations
- Gather feedback from trainees and other stakeholders to continuously improve Competency programs
- Provides guidance and advice on internal standards to key stakeholders including Superintendents Forepersons and competent assessors
- Communicate effectively to ensure stakeholders understand and comply with Competency requirements
- Promote a strong safety culture by emphasizing the importance of safety protocols and procedures
- Address and correct unsafe practices observed during Competency evaluation
- Implements third party training materials for operators and assessors
- Ensure training content is aligned with company standards industry regulations and best practices
- Utilizes instructional materials including manuals presentations and multimedia resources
- Maintains training records (e.g. certifications such as bucket truck telehandler or forklift)
- Responsible for the accuracy and validity of all certifications and compliances including First Aid and equipment specific certifications
- Maintains a clear and up to date understanding of current regulatory requirements.
- Communicate relevant updates and changes to key stakeholders to ensure compliance.
- Ensure all Competency activities to comply with company policies and regulatory requirements
Qualifications:
- 4 years of relevant industry experience operating or dealing directly with equipment
- 4 years experience in a similar role must have a class 5 Drivers license; either holds or has the ability to work towards a Class 3 and Class 1 license.
- High School Diploma required relevant Competency certifications (e.g. Certified Technical Advisor Train-the-Advisor) are preferred. Preferred to have tickets for fall arrest elevated work platform telehandler and forklift (once issued must maintain)
- Capable of providing guidance and advice in a collaborative manner
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proven knowledge of mobile equipment safety practices
- Ability to write Field Level Hazard Assessments
- Basic computer literacy including experience with Outlook MS Word Excel PowerPoint and PDFs
- Ability to learn and understand software programs
- Technologically savvy and quick to embrace new equipment technologies
- Being able to provide remote learning when required
Working Conditions:
- 50% or more travelling required
- This is a on-site or in-office job
