The Domestic Violence Shelter Manager is responsible for all aspects of shelter operations victim services and staff supervision to ensure the delivery of comprehensive survivor-centered support. This management role leads the coordination of services including emergency shelter housing assistance and non-residential advocacy programs. The Domestic Violence Shelter ensures the safety and well-being of survivors by effectively leveraging community partnerships and resources to provide holistic trauma-informed care

Shelter Management Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. HOTLINE (SHELTER) MANAGEMENT
  2. PROGRAM MANAGEMENT
  3. ADVOCACY AND COLLABORATION
  4. FACILITY MANAGEMENT

Position Requirements Competencies and Qualifications

Required experience working in a DV shelter or DV survivor service at least two years per WAC 388.61A.

Required to complete 20 hours of annual continuing education & 5 hours of supervisor training per WAC 388-61A.

Respect for all cultures and ability to interact with diverse groups.

Experience in victim/survivor advocacy and crisis intervention/counseling preferred.

Knowledge of gender-based violence issues and their impact on individuals and families and experience working with individuals who have experienced trauma.

Knowledge and proficiency in the use of computers internet searches smartphone devices and other software packages.

Ability to maintain effective relationships with staff volunteers community and national partners.

Experience working in a DV shelter or transitional housing environment preferred.

Educational Level and Related Field

Bachelors degree in Counseling Criminal Justice Social Work Public Health Psychology or other related field preferred.

A minimum of fifty hours of training on DV issues & advocacy within 3 years prior to date of hire.

Minimum two years experience providing advocacy to victims of DV within a DV agency.

2 years of staff supervision experience in a community-based organization preferred.
