Job Summary

If you are a Registered Nurse (RN) with aspirations of working in the perioperative environment or a nurse with previous theatre experience who would like to return to the workforce the Epworth perioperative Introduction to Specialty Practice program (ISP) may be for you.

This highly sought-after program is designed to meet the specific theoretical and practical needs of a nurse wishing to pursue or further their career in the perioperative setting.

The ISP program:

  • Is a 12-month program up to 1.0 EFT commencing Monday 20th July.
  • Will introduce and expand on the concepts of perioperative nursing in either Anaesthetics/PACU or Scrub/Scout areas
  • Enables participants to develop an understanding of the principles and practice of perioperative nursing and ensure they have attained a satisfactory level of competency to work in a safe and effective manner
  • Is delivered using a combination of theory simulation and clinical exposure to consolidate and assess knowledge and skill
  • Commences with a study block where pre and post reading material will be provided
  • Includes performance appraisals and regular feedback at various intervals throughout the program
  • Provides a pathway to ongoing learning and development opportunities available through the Brooks Academy after successful completion of this program

You are passionate about delivering an exceptional patient experience by delivering high-quality care.  Professional empathetic and compassionate in your personal conduct you have the ability to inspire others and be a positive role model.  You are motivated to continually learn improve and promote best practice.

You will have:

  • Successfully completed a graduate program
  • Have 2 years acute clinical experience post completion of a graduate program
  • Have a commitment to learning and upskilling in this specialised area attending all study days and course requirements
  • Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse
  • Australian Citizenship / Permanent Residency; OR New Zealand Citizenship

Epworth Geelong located adjacent to Deakin Universitys Medical School in Waurn Ponds is developing an environment of world-class health care and education to meet the needs of the expanding population of Geelong and South West Victoria.  It features contemporary design cutting-edge medical technology and best practice patient care whilst offering a wide range of inpatient and outpatient medical surgical and rehabilitation services.

Our Peri-operative environment consists of 13 Operating Theatres including a Hybrid Theatre Cath Lab and 2 endoscopy suites. Located all on the one level we have the Operating Theatre Cath Lab ICU and Day Surgery allowing excellent patient flow and best patient care. Currently our specialities include; Orthopaedics Vascular General Macs Facs ENT Pain Ophthalmology Endoscopy Plastics Neurosurgery and Urology.

The annual salary range for full time Registered Nurses AUD $82236 - $103280  super entitlements depending on registration type year level and position/experience (prorated for part-time).
