Senior API Engineer Contract

We are looking for a Senior API Engineer to join our team in Sydney. This is a high-impact role focused on building the bridge between our core products and the next generation of AI agents. You will be responsible for developing the API infrastructure that enables AI agents to discover interact with and execute transactions across our product suite.

This role sits at the intersection of product innovation and cutting-edge tech working in close collaboration with our Google partnership and internal product teams to ensure our ecosystem is AI-ready.

The Role

As a Senior API Engineer your primary mission is to ensure our API infrastructure is robust scalable and optimized for Unified Customer Platform (UCP) integration. You will play a lead role in assessing API readiness and building the feeds necessary for AI agent discoverability.

Key Responsibilities:

• Infrastructure & Integration: Build and maintain high-performance API infrastructure and microservices to enable seamless AI agent access.
• Strategic Assessment: Evaluate current API readiness for UCP integration and contribute to the technical roadmap for the remainder of the year.
• AI Readiness: Implement product feeds and ensure APIs support complex transaction capabilities and agent discoverability.
• Automation Innovation: Design and build automated solutions for AI discoverability such as periodic scraping and publishing of files to guide Large Language Models.
• Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with the Tech Lead on UCP design and maintain a strong technical relationship with our Google partners.

Technical Requirements

We are looking for an engineer who thrives in complex high-scale environments and has a deep understanding of how APIs power modern ecosystems.

• API Expertise: Extensive experience in API builds microservices architecture and API gateway patterns.
• Cloud Infrastructure: Strong hands-on experience with GCP (Google Cloud Platform) services.
• Integration Experience: Proven track record of working with Google partnership integrations or similar large-scale third-party ecosystems.
• AI Familiarity: A solid understanding of how AI agents and LLMs consume data (experience with or similar machine-readable documentation is a plus).
