Position Title: Guest Services Assistant

Department: Clayton Center for the Arts (CCA)

Title of Immediate Supervisor: Box Office & Guest Services Manager

Funded Term / Work Cycle: 12-Month/Part-Time

Expected Daily Work Hours: Varies- Evenings and weekends required; schedule varies based on events

Expected Weekly Work Schedule: 20 25 hours

Pay Grade: 1S

Starting Salary Expectations: $15.00/hour

Position Purpose

The Clayton Center Concierge provides front-line guest services and hospitality support for performances events and programs at the Clayton Center for the Arts. This role helps create a welcoming accessible and positive experience for patrons by offering courteous assistance accurate information and on-site support during events.

SUMMARY

Clayton Center Concierges serve as the public face of the Center during performances and events. Working evening and weekend shifts Concierges greet and assist patrons support box office and lobby operations help maintain public spaces and respond to guest needs in a professional and service-oriented manner. This role supports event execution through direct guest interaction and coordination with front-of-house leadership and staff.

Education and Experience required to ensure success in this position:

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Post-secondary coursework in hospitality arts administration or related field preferred

Experience:

  • Previous customer service or hospitality experience preferred
  • Experience in a theatre event or live-performance environment a plus

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS


Guest Services & Hospitality

  • Greet and assist patrons in a professional courteous and welcoming manner.
  • Provide information regarding performances exhibitions facilities accessibility services and general event logistics.
  • Assist patrons with seating will-call lost-and-found and special accommodations.
  • Support donor member and special-guest experiences as directed.
  • Promote a positive inclusive environment consistent with Maryville College values.

Front-of-House Operations

  • Process ticket sales and will-call transactions in accordance with established pricing and procedures.
  • Coordinate with box office house management and technical staff to support smooth event operations.
  • Assist with usher coordination and patron flow as directed.
  • Support concessions receptions and special events as assigned.
  • Help maintain cleanliness organization and appearance of lobby and public spaces.

Safety & Responsiveness

  • Respond calmly and appropriately to patron concerns or emergencies following established protocols.
  • Support accessibility and safety procedures during events.
  • Report issues or incidents to front-of-house leadership promptly.

Other:

  • Other duties as assigned to support the mission of Maryville College and the successful operation of the Clayton Center for the Arts.

NOTE: Other roles/duties will be assigned as necessary to assist the College in the attainment of the goals set forth and the enhancement of a positive respectful learning environment for all staff faculty and students.

License Certification or Registration Necessary:

  • None required
  • ABC permit or CPR/First Aid preferred if applicable to assigned duties

Work Environment and Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during events.
  • Ability to lift up to 2535 pounds occasionally.
  • Work performed primarily in a theatre and public-event environment.
  • Evening and weekend work required.

Ability to operate the following vehicles or equipment:

The College may at its discretion sponsor employment-based immigration petitions (such as H-1B or permanent residency) on behalf of employees when permitted by law and aligned with institutional priorities and budget.

Sponsorship is contingent on satisfactory continued employment compliance with applicable federal regulations availability of institutional resources and the Colleges sole determination of fiscal feasibility.
