Position: Head of Process Engineering

Role Overview

We are seeking a highly experienced and technically strong Head of Process Engineering to lead and transform our engineering capabilities across the organization. This role is critical in driving process stability reducing recurring issues and building strong internal technical competency.

The successful candidate will oversee multiple engineering functions including Industrial Engineering (IE) Tooling Fabrication Maintenance and Repair and will be responsible for both strategic improvement and immediate problem resolution (firefighting) on the production floor.

Summary

This role requires a hands-on engineering leader not just a manager. The ideal candidate must be able to solve problems on the ground build team capability and drive long-term process stability.

Key Responsibilities

1. Department Leadership & Integration

• Lead and manage Process Engineering functions across:
• Industrial Engineering (IE)
• Tooling
• Fabrication
• Maintenance & Repair
• Align all functions toward process stability efficiency and quality performance
• Develop a strong technically competent engineering team

2. Process Stability & Continuous Improvement

• Identify and eliminate repeated process failures such as:
• Heat stacking issues
• Equipment instability
• Process variation
• Drive root cause analysis (RCA) and ensure effective permanent solutions
• Establish engineering standards and control systems to prevent recurrence

3. Technical Problem Solving (Firefighting Capability)

• Take ownership of critical production issues and breakdowns
• Lead immediate response to:
• Tester breakdowns
• Equipment failures
• Process abnormalities
• Ensure internal team is capable of diagnosing and resolving issues independently (reduce reliance on external support)

4. Equipment & Process Engineering

• Strengthen internal capability in:
• Tester systems (diagnostics troubleshooting repair)
• Ultrasonic welding processes
• Injection and assembly-related equipment
• Ensure proper understanding of design functionality and process limitations

5. Tooling & Fabrication Oversight

• Oversee tooling development modification and maintenance
• Ensure tooling meets design intent and production requirements
• Improve fabrication quality and turnaround time

6. Maintenance System Strengthening

• Establish robust preventive and predictive maintenance systems
• Improve machine uptime and reliability
• Develop internal capability to reduce recurring breakdowns

7. Capability Building & Knowledge Development

• Address current gaps in design knowledge and technical understanding
• Develop structured training and competency programs for engineers and supervisors
• Build strong engineering fundamentals within the team

8. Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Work closely with Production Quality and R&D
• Ensure engineering supports:
• New product introduction (NPI)
• Process readiness
• Quality requirements

Key Challenges (What You Will Fix)

• Repeated unresolved issues (e.g. heat stacking)
• Weak root cause analysis and recurrence control
• Lack of internal capability to resolve tester breakdowns
• Gaps in design and process understanding
• Over-reliance on external vendors for troubleshooting

Requirements

• Degree in Mechanical / Electrical / Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent
• Minimum 1015 years experience in manufacturing environment
• Proven experience leading multi-functional engineering teams
• Experience in automotive or high-volume manufacturing is preferred
• Strong hands-on expertise in:
  • Equipment troubleshooting
  • Process engineering
  • Automation / tester systems
• Strong knowledge in:
  • Root cause analysis
