Nature of Work

The fundamental reason this positionexists is to provide technical and logistical support for analyzing planning developingand the administration of a city/county-wide emergency management training andexercise program with an emphasis on the Strategic National Stockpile (SNS) andstate and local Medical Countermeasure (MCM) plans. The work responsibilities are assisting withcoordinating the planning and exercise training of the SNS program; maintaining and organizing stockpile; identifying and researching grant funds; and servingin various roles during Emergency Operations Center (EOC) activations. Directsupervision is received from the EMA Operations Officer.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED and one(1) year of professional experience in providing technical and administrative supportin emergency management emergency response coordinating emergency measures orservices including management planning and training.

NOTE:Qualifying education training and experience thatprovide the requisite knowledge skills and abilities to perform the job willbe considered.

Special Requirements

Must currently hold or be able to obtain a Basic EmergencyManager certification from the State of Alabama or FEMA within two years ofhire. Must live within a response time of sixty (60) minutes to the EmergencyManagement Operations Center. Must have and maintain a valid AlabamaDrivers License in order to operate government vehicles.

WORKING CONDITIONS: Mustbe willing to be on call 24 hours a day in order to respond to disasters orhazards. Must be willing to attend training out-of-town which requiresovernight stays.

Kind of Examination

Applications are being accepted to fill one (1) vacancy and any vacancies that may occur during the life of the register. The current vacancy is with theCity of Montgomery Emergency Management Department.Applicants will be screened and qualified based upon education and experience as shown on the application and supplemental questionnaire. For this reason applicants are urged to fill in the application form and supplemental questionnaire completely providing detailed information concerning the kinds of jobs they have held the dates they held them where and exactly what their duties were. If more than five qualified applications are received a computerized test will be administered to rank applicants on the register. Tied scores will not be broken. If there are five or less qualified applicants they will be considered equally qualified and placed on the register in alphabetical order.
