Job Summary
Role: Senior HIL Engineer
Location: Novi Michigan (Onsite)
Duration: Full Time (Permanent)
Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
- Define HIL strategy and test architecture across:
- Front Zone (drive systems)
- Scout Hub (range extender systems)
- Ensure testing coverage for:
- Normal conditions
- Edge cases
- Fault scenarios
- Own HIL plant model strategy including:
- Motor / inverter
- Driveline
- Battery interface
- Generator / ICE surrogate
- Thermal interactions
- Manage signal and communication fidelity using:
- CAN LIN FlexRay Ethernet
- UDS diagnostics
- ASAM XCP
- Plan and prioritize test scope aligned with:
- Release milestones
- Systems controls calibration teams
- Safety requirements (ASIL FMEA/FMEDA)
- Lead development of test automation frameworks using:
- Python
- CI/CD tools (Jenkins GitHub Actions)
- Define and track KPIs:
- Test pass rate
- Coverage
- Defect leakage
- Time to root cause
- Rig uptime
- Manage:
- Supplier and lab interfaces
- Hardware roadmap (I/O load boxes fault insertion dyno integration)
- Configuration management
- Lead team activities:
- Mentor 5 engineers
- Conduct design reviews
- Ensure coding and testing standards
Qualifications:
- 8 12 years of experience in:
- HIL/SIL validation
- EV/HEV powertrain or drive systems
- Hands-on experience with:
- HIL systems and automation tools
- Vector CANoe / CANape
- ASAM A2L / MDF
- UDS diagnostics and restbus simulation
- Strong expertise in:
- MATLAB / Simulink
- Model integration
- Python automation
- Version control (Git)
- Knowledge of:
- ISO 26262 (Functional Safety)
- Automotive cybersecurity basics
- Proven leadership in:
- Team mentoring
- Roadmap planning
- Cross-functional collaboration
- Supplier management
- Education:
- Bachelors Degree in Engineering
